Hassert and Lott can't wait to get their hands on that K-Street money. They resign before the year's end and the don't have to follow new restrictions for congressmen becoming lobyists, including a two year waiting period.

I am taken aback by the exodus by major Republicans from congress. Does anyone sense a "run for your lives" sentiment going on among the long-term republicans in congress? They are all jumping ship after all the stalling in Congress and backing a president that can't find his way out of a paper bag without cheney or rove by his side giving directions. So now, with the probability that a Democrat will win the presidency all the top-tier (crooked?) republicans are resigning in droves. What's up with that? Why isn't anyone talking about the implications?
Why isn't there an op-ed piece on HuffPo about the rats abandoning ship?
