Mount Ayr, Ia. - Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson promised today to provide a new style at the White House with a positive, bipartisan administration closely linked with common people.

He said he would bring Americans together by appointing a Cabinet of Democrats, Republicans and independents. In addition, he would spend nights in the homes of average Americans and would meet with them individually to hear their concerns.

"I would stay in touch. I would be a grass-roots president," Richardson told about 50 people at the Ringgold County Courthouse in southern Iowa.

Richardson, New Mexico's governor, noted that Ringgold County was one of the final stops toward his goal of visiting all of Iowa's 99 counties. When his four-day Iowa campaign trip ends Tuesday at a farm in rural Council Bluffs, he will have visited in every Iowa county except Keokuk County, and he plans to stop there soon.

This is Richardson's "Hail Mary" pass. He's sounding pretty desperate. "I'll do anything for anybody if you'll just love me."

I like Bill Richardson, and I don't care that he's made several gaffes in the race.

A president that can speak more than 1 language, that does not attack other Dems and that is a popular RED STATE governor?

I don't really like having Republicans in his cabinet - but I like most of his ideas. His thinking is outside of the box but gets the job done - like holding out on China's Olympics in order to get some help in Darfur - what are the other candidates talking about - who voted for this and that and who is 'electable'.

Yawn - more of the same - even Obama who I was looking at very seriously. Too bad.

Bill Richardson turned out to be the big "Turkey of the Season."

His emabarassing performance at the Logo Debate, his saying that God wanted Iowa to go first, and now this.

While he would no doubt be a better President that who we have, his is a horrible, horrible candidate. He won't be the Presidential nominee and he has likely disqualified himself as VP nominee too (if the Dems have any sense).

While I wish him success in the future as Governor of New Mexico and his other endeavors, I look forward to Richardson's official withdrawal after our defacto national primary on February 5th.

How can you call the man who says he will get the troops out of Iraq immediately, "Republican Lite"??????
This country needs healing in a bad way, especially in the "hate the other side" department. Some attempts at bipartisanship would help to get things done in Congress and in the world. Do you think that a bunch of shrill attacks on conservatives will get a large enough majority to get the changes in health care, rampant spending, environmental crisis, etc?
Hillary Clinton is Republican Lite, a friend of big money, and a war monger. She will polarize this country more, nothing will get accomplished, and we will still be in Iraq in four years.

Did I stumble upon "RidingHorses.com"? Because you all act like you've got the biggest damn blinders on in the world.

Why CAN'T a Democrat be progressive enough to bring a balance to the Cabinet through Republican appointments? You're calling Richardson "Republican-lite" (which I disagree with) - why couldn't he bring on "Democrat-lite" appointees?

This attitude of all-or-nothing, no cooperation, hate them superficially bullshit has got to end for this country to get anywhere. The fact that it exists on both sides of the aisle makes it even fucking worse. Why do you think the Bush admin has screwed so much up and ostracized so many people? Because of that attitude. How could the Dems botch their return to the White House? By continuing this attitude.

I'm glad to finally see someone who is willing to meet in the middle and get shit done instead of pointing fingers, shouting derision, and acting immaturely.

And let me preempt any responses by saying - YES there are plenty of people in the Republican party who shouldn't get a second thought for respect. But thank God none of you are representatives of the Democratic party, because I wouldn't give you the time of day either.

OK now Richardson is promising republican criminals that they will have leaders in a Democratic administration?

WTF is wrong with the leaders of the Democratic party????

There are a few of us that don't want to make nice with the republicans . When I vote , it will be to toss them out and hopefully investigate their corruption , not to then join hands and put the thieving bastards back in positions of power . This is akin to having a bunch of thugs invade your house , rape your wife , steal your lifes savings , sell your children into slavery , then when their caught you post their bond and invite them over for tea . No thanks , I want as many of them as possible in jail , not back in government .

I don't know what all the whining is about here. I have a place for Richardson if he wants to stay over. I would also have a place for Huckabee, or maybe even Paul. However, Rudy can get a hotel.
