Mount Ayr, Ia. - Democratic presidential candidate Bill Richardson promised today to provide a new style at the White House with a positive, bipartisan administration closely linked with common people.
He said he would bring Americans together by appointing a Cabinet of Democrats, Republicans and independents. In addition, he would spend nights in the homes of average Americans and would meet with them individually to hear their concerns.
"I would stay in touch. I would be a grass-roots president," Richardson told about 50 people at the Ringgold County Courthouse in southern Iowa.
Richardson, New Mexico's governor, noted that Ringgold County was one of the final stops toward his goal of visiting all of Iowa's 99 counties. When his four-day Iowa campaign trip ends Tuesday at a farm in rural Council Bluffs, he will have visited in every Iowa county except Keokuk County, and he plans to stop there soon.
