Think Progress:

Bush butchers pronunciation of 'Olmert' and 'Mahmoud.'

While reading a joint agreement on principles established between the Israelis and Palestinians at today's Annapolis conference, President Bush stumbled in pronouncing the names of the two leaders standing right next to him -- Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. Watch it:

I think it was Jan of o4 Bush gave a speech in the afternoon. for the first 5 minutes on CNN, you heard Bush's voice speak, then you saw and heard Bush speak. It was so interesting I DVR'd it and later burned it to dvd. I have it here somewhere. I always thought maybe since he is so dense, he's coached through the script, and then listens to himself speaking it in his ear piece. I figured somehow his ear piece was cross talking into the either CNNs equipment or the white house system until some smart feller noticed and fixed the problem.

It was right on cue with all his long pauses. He would speak, and take a long pause. Then you would hear the next line, in his voice but not nearly as loud. Then Bush would speak the same line. Then pause. Then you would hear the next line, and so on. It is truly a comedy act. I need to dig that out and post it on youtube.
Im sure Neo Con rethugs would just say its fabricated. Its not..

He is SUCH an embarrassment to the US.
No wonder he never goes overseas.

It does not seem fair that these world leaders show up and have names so difficult to pronounce. They get all the breaks. All they have to say is "Bush". And they are not required to exhibit an acquired, "Texas Good Ol' Boy Accent".

Life is hard.

Bush, "I'll never forget good ole what's his name."

When you are speaking English as a second language, things are difficult. "It's hard work." Mentally taxing when you are mentally taxed.

In his days as Governor, Bush could speak. At an autopsy, God forbid, the pathologist often finds pathologies from disease process. We all see a decline in his mental faculties with speech patterns being disrupted and thought patterns distorted.

I have asked a neuropsychologist to make an analysis, just as neurologists were asked to assess Hitler's "problems." The neuropsychologist hissed and spat saying that "a character disorder does not need a physiological explanation."

Back to "Bush on the Couch" and Dr. Franks concerns. I believe that the "problems" are evidence of a degenerative process.

How the entire peace process depends on a man who cannot even pronounce the names baffles me. The people how voted for this man need their heads examined.

I can put up with a little stupidity, but not someone who is proud of it!

Bush is the "darling" of the media because of the latest "peace" effort by the warmongering dolt. All the talking heads and programs like "Good Morning America" can't spread enough manure over the how our peace loving "president" has set forth on his policy of love and conciliation to ameliorate the problems of the Middle East. After almost seven years of the worst foreign policy in our history and the lack of any thing resembling enlightened foreign policy, this has to be some kind of joke, like looking around the oval office for WMDs under chairs, behind drapes and sofas for the amusement of the press corps after he turned Iraq into a killing field and money pit. He is now amusing the media with his peace based initiative.

There are roughly 200 countries in the world. I doubt an American president is dealing with more than 50, and he will probably see no more than 30-40 representatives. How hard can in be to make a list with a written pronounciation? And just a little practice before he meets them.

Apart from the funny aspect it is rude for the visitor. I used to work in sales. Getting a customer's name wrong at a first meeting was not the best of an entry. You never have a second chande to make a first impression.

Hey, somebody's got to be the worst president ever. Just think about how great he makes everyone else look.

I thought Bush was leaving the meeting early so as not to embarrass the nation.

Don't these people rehearse? For God's sake -how many times does this man have to embarass us in front of the whole world before they take him aside for 10 minutes and make him repeat "Olmert - Olmert".

Hi,

It is unfortunate that the President embarrases himself and his country by mispronouncing the names of his invited guests!

Does he really care??

What do U think?

Let's be thankful that's all he butchered. The last time he got together with more than one Mideast leader in the room, he planned to butcher Iraq.

Bush hatred runs wide and deep among "progressives" (sic). No credit for making this effort, only mocking the fact Bush can't pronounce two words correctly in a row.
