These incidents present themselves as sensational episodes. The public figure involved is suppose to figure out how to respond to it. However, there is nothing to react to other than our system has failed to help this mentally ill individual after several brushes with the legal system. In each instance it seemed to be treated solely as a police matter. It is not clear yet whether any community connection was made available to this man to see that he was getting the proper help.
Fortunately the police cooperatively with all their counterparts handled today's episode in a professional manner and ensured as much as possible that no one would get hurt. For that they deserve justifiable praise.
