Unlike her predecessor as mayoral girlfriend, Mike Bloomberg's gal pal, investment banker Diana Taylor, has never had a separate police protection detail.

Taylor, 52, takes the bus every day to her midtown office and rides the subway to business appointments. In the six years Taylor and Bloomberg have lived together, she said she has never had reason to want or need personal NYPD security.

"I don't have security in Bogota or Nairobi or Moscow when I travel there on business, why would I need security in the safest city in the world?" Taylor told the Daily News yesterday.

Since she brought this up, this brings up all kinds of interesting comments:

Maybe she doesn't have NYPD security because her boyfriend is a billionaire. Therefore, he can hire Blackwater or anybody else. Does NYC still pay him a $1 a year salary? Doesn't that seem a little odd? The guy spends almost $100 million of his own money to win(buy)his job, and now makes $1 a year.

Since he's going to run in 2008 (you know it's true), how is His Honor going to deal with him and the potential First lady living together? That's fine when you're a billionaire couple. But when you're President the country's not too hip to that idea. In other civilized countries it's ok. But we're still way behind the curve in more ways than one.
