Carl Bernstein

Carl Bernstein, the Washington Post veteran journalist best-known for being one-half of investigative journalism's most famous twosome, will join CNN as an analyst for the 2008 election season.

In a press release, CNN/US President Jon Klein said, "Carl stands out as one of the pre-eminent journalists of our time and a respected, well-connected commentator on the American political scene. We are delighted to have him as part of the Best Political Team on Television and look forward to his insightful analysis."

Bernstein congratulated the network for demonstrating "time and again a sincere effort to go beyond the political horserace" and declared, "My hope is to examine the real lives and records of the candidates and look at how these people - and their political machines - try to win votes, influence the media and use the electoral system to their maximum advantage. I'm thrilled at the opportunity to have CNN's broad reach in doing so."

Bernstein most recently published a book on presidential candidate HIllary Rodham Clinton, titled A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Without Soledad O'Brian CNN's am morning show was dumbed down with silliness and become unbearable to watch. Maybe hiring Bernstein is a sign that management has reversed itself. Intelligent content does not nesessarily drive away audiences.

They do more than necessary? What's he smoking? At least he'll be one sane person as compared to the rest of those wannabe journalists.

Considering that he is a right winger, I am not surprised by cnn or by his warped complement.]

I think you're mistaking him for his rich, lying little leach of a junior reporter partner Woodward.

Bernstein is close to the real thing.

Can't we have Zippy The Pinhead or the dancing
bear from Conan instead? I know, Bill Nye!
Or, or, maybe the flying disembodied Head
of Zothar...

Sheesh. I certainly hope he's being well paid. I saw him last week on some talking heads program and he kept trying to get the empty suits onto a topic of substance. It was futile. They are simply incapable of an intelligent discussion of policy. Good luck, Carl. I hope you can tolerant them. Ugh.
