Romney Backs Off Speech

Political Radar:

Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney distanced his much anticipated speech on his Mormon religion from President Kennedy's now iconic 1960 speech while speaking in Manchester, N.H. Monday.

Asked by an audience member why he was giving the speech, Romney said, "Well, actually, and I'm glad you raised it because I think JFK really did give the definitive speech on politics and religion."

Leave JFK's name out of this mess. I'm not Jackie, but god I can hear her response to all of this wealthy trash! All of them, after the Carter Family. We used to have quality people to choose from. No I haven't decided yet. I'll just accept the democrat candidate. What choice do we have?

Why should he even bother. Religion shouldn't be a test for leader in this country. What we need to know is about his honesty and integrity not his Mormonism.

Romney was a faithful enough Mormon to do missionary work in France during Vietnam, and now that it's time to run for president, he misstates or outright denies the tenets of his alleged faith.

Does Romney believe in anything outside of his hunger for power?

Romney is forbidden to tell the truth about his religion. If there is a Q&A after his schpiel, he will be asked what happens in the Celestial Room behind the veil. Right?

But much more important is the critical mass that a Mormon in the White House literally hands to the LDS. It legitimizes their cult, and it gives them the ability to carry on their conversion missions all around the world. That being done, it makes the downstream goals more realistic, those of allowing LDS-enhancing constitutions, laws, and resolutions.

All to make governments the tools of the World LDS. Think of the Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Inquisition. Think of the Anglican Church in the hands of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I. Think of the Puritan Revolution in England that threatened Anglicans, Catholics, and others. Think of the Soviet Empire and the Chinese Maoist government which destroyed all religions that posed a threat (only those Orthodox priests in Russia and Chinese priests in China who cut themselves off from their churches and followed the governments orders survived). Consider the recent Myanmar destruction of Buddhist monasteries. And finally consider the Taliban, Wahabists, and other Islamist extremists who wish to dominate their populations. And then the christianist, mormonist, and other cults that wish to dominate the conversation of the Nation.

These are dangerous times with Romney so close...

Ugh.

Not, because Mitt cannot tell the truth about his religion. If he did that, it would insure no one with half a brain would vote for him. Excuse me, I mean all except those members of his church.

JFK was a neocon pig who fought against the ideals of modern democrats.

Another interesting history is how male Mormon leaders pressured Mormon women to get on buses and oppose the Equal Rights Ammendment ERA, my what a proud moment in History that was.

Romney probably is lowering expectations and REALLY doesn't want to talk about the RACISM of the Mormon Church, I found two interesting stories, one in 1974 when the LDS Chuch got sued by a 12 yo. Black Scout they wouldn't advance. Another about Mormon who ordained a Black man to the priesthood, then the Chuch had police following this man after they excommunicated him, and one of the cops got6 wounded and paralized and sued.
There's also a story of Mormon leaders hiding paedofile Scout leaders, and ministers....oops!

Here's a little present for previously gay-friendly Mittler

"Brownback Campaign Rips Romney on Boy Scouts Position
CBN ^ | 7/22/07

Posted on 07/22/2007

The Brody File is the first to receive a press release that will go out later today from the Brownback campaign.

It is a frontal assault on Mitt Romney.

Basically, the Brownback campaign is blasting Romney for his past comments about the Boy Scouts. You can read the press release below.

The title is as follows:

Romney Hostile to Boy Scout Leadership and Principles: Supports Gay Scout Leaders, was Cold to Scout Participation in Olympics.

Here's the entire press release:

In his 1994 Senate race in Massachusetts and later as CEO of the Salt Lake City Olympic Committee, Mitt Romney opposed Boy Scout officials who wished to prevent gay men from becoming troop leaders and was hostile to Scout participation in the 2002 Olympics.

In a 1994 debate with Ted Kennedy, Mitt Romney offered his support for gay scout leaders:

"I feel that all people should be allowed to participate in the Boy Scouts regardless of their sexual orientation."

The comments from Romney, who holds a law degree, came six years before the June 2000 Supreme Court ruling that allowed the Boy Scouts to bar troop leaders based on sexual orientation. The ruling cited the constitutional rights of freedom of association and speech.

Later in 2000, facing pressure from gay rights activists, Romney was cold toward overtures from Scout leaders who wished to participate in Olympic activities.

"At a recent training event for Scout leaders, Marty Latimer, chief Scout executive for the council, revealed that the Scouts are no longer welcome. 'We don't understand what's wrong. They just don't want us and won't talk to us,' said Latimer. He told NewsMax.com that Mitt Romney, president and CEO of the Salt Lake Olympic Committee, has not returned phone calls from a number of Scout officials who have tried to obtain clarification."

Romney's openness to gay scout leaders conflicts with the Scout Oath, which requires Scouts to be "morally straight."

The problem with Romney isn't his Mormonism, it is that he is the ulitmate opportunist. He's for gay rights in Massachusetts when he felt he politically needs to be and is now anti-gay when he feels he needs to be.

I can only imagine how his formerly gay-supporters feel betrayed as he throws them under the bus to appease bigots within the Republican Party.

Even for people who are anti-gay, they have to ask themselves. If he changes his core believes so easily, won't it be easy for him to change back? How soon before he throws me under the bus too.

Romney has nothing to offer America and his entire campaign is one of vanity, and he will say anything to anyone to aggrandize himself in his search for the Presidency.

We've already had 8-years of a man-child who wanted to "be" President. We don't need another opportunist in it for himself.

Dear Mitt the Twit: JFK was talking about a religion. YOU, sir, are a member of a CULT. There is a difference..... a BIG one.

But if you do talk about your cult, be sure to talk about the planet you get when you die, the magic underwear, the mark of Cain (aka black people), polygamy (which only went away when the US govt threatened to prosecute all of you)......

PUUUULLLLLEEEAAASSSEEE dear God, spare this nation another religious wrong president.

I think Mitt has a lot in common with JFK. First, there's the hair, obviously. And, they were both elected officials from Massachusetts. And, uh, let's see, oh yeah -- they're both carbon based life forms. When you get right down to it, the similarities are eerie.
