Standing on stage at a Republican debate on the Gulf Coast of Florida last week, Mitt Romney repeatedly lashed out at rival Rudy Giuliani for providing sanctuary to illegal immigrants in New York City.

Romney should relieve his five sons from 'public service' so they can go roll up their sleeves and help with the landscaping at home in between hitting the road to campaign for him.
I really don't get it. When I was a kid everybody in my neighborhood took care of their own property and yes, the kids in the family helped. Some of the more complicated stuff was contracted out to a couple local gardeners. People that couldn't do their own yards hired kids in the neighorhood for the basics -- to mow their lawns, rake leaves,and shovel driveways.
I guess this is just another sign that I'm getting old and that this is not the America I grew up in.
My Mom's neighbor recently told me that her teenage son couldn't get a job. When she spoke to a friend that has a lawn service about a summer job for her son he told her he's got more help than he needs. Yes, all illegal but it's cheap labor and he can work them hard because they certainly aren't going to report the boss for unfair labor practices.
While I feel for the people who were lured here for the work, something needs to be done about the illegal worker problem and the only way that seems fair is to enforce existing laws. Fine employers that hire people that are here illegally!
Romney can certainly afford to pay the going rate, whatever it is, to a company that would hire U.S. citizens. Problem is he might not be able to find one!
Enforce the existing laws! It may be uncomfortable for a lot of people for a while but if this isn't done, this problem only going to get worse.

Another set so odd contradicts is at work here. Gees, really, each and every one of us is to check the legal status of every employee of every contractor and or service company we hire to do work around our homes. But, at the same time police, hospitals and government agencies are forbidden to check the legal status of anyone they come in contact with. I'm confused, it seems it should be the other way around.
The thing is we all know he's a brilliant business man who turned actual companies into his personal fortune, a list of unemployed Americans and a diminished manufacturing base.
But the disconnect is he can't administer a company with a handful of employees mowing his lawn when he already knew where the potential problem was and he couldn't plan getting a dog from spot A to spot B without spots #2 running all over the car.
This is the person who should be running a country????
Especially not after Bush would we want one of those stupid, rightwing bastards to run the country.
Isn't Romney breaking the law?

Romney's railing on illegal immigration is one of his main issues and here he has - YET AGAIN - illegals working at his home.
This guy is running for President - he isn't some "normal homeowner" just trying to get his grass mowed.
He is wealthy, has connections, and is running for President.
Yeah - he needs to make sure he knows who is working on his home.
If Romney can't keep Illegal Aliens from working on his home - how in the hell is he going to keep Illegal Aliens out of the country???
There are plenty of reasons for voting against Romney but this isn't one of them. Cheap shot, simple as that. I'm certain the catering services the Clinton and Obama campaigns use employ many illegals as waiters and dishwashers.
In one way or another at least 5 cents of your dollary goes to Illegal immigrants and it has done so for over a hundred years. This issue is a joke and is nothing more than a tactic by the republiclowns to motivate the racists in their base and to create another paper-tiger to scare little old ladies with.

Whether it's the good ol' Baptist preacher or a Mormon of devout faith, or the Law & Order former mayor, many of our presidential candidates are hypocrites. They justify and excuse their own actions, while assailing others who do the same. These parasites take everything they can for themselves, use others to do personal favors for them, and then insist on passing legislation to prohibit others from the same practices.
The Baptist preacher feels sorry for a serial rapist, but ignores the personal individual of his victims to keep the rapist imprisoned. The tough Law & Order mayor has a tryst with his mistress and uses NYC police to provide her with transportation and security (without paying for it), and the devout flip-flop Mormon wants tough immigration laws, fences and harsh fines imposed on people who hire undocumented workers, yet hires them himself.
Then we've got the Clinton's who profited from the Whitewater S&L, which WE paid to bail out, along with many others. An unrepentant Hillary refuses to atone for her mis-guided vote on Iraq, while Billy-Boy claims he was against it.
Don't we have any decent, honorable people who abide by their convictions any more?
