Kiefer Sutherland was sentenced Wednesday to 48 days in jail in his drunken driving case, prosecutors said.

Sutherland appeared in court with his attorney for the sentencing. He had pleaded no contest for driving with a blood-alcohol level above the legal limit of .08 following his Sept. 25 arrest.

I guess Keifer didn't have Paris HIlton's clout.
Maybe if he fakes an anxiety attack he can get let out sooner.
But then I guess that only works if your a little rich girl.

Perhaps he'll learn the art of staying sober 24 hours at a time.

.
He probably relapsed, as many alcoholic does. Sutherland was interviewed by Charlie Rose earlier this year [may be last year, can't recall exactly], and Sutherland was quite articulate about his past and hopeful about his future. But he talked about his parents, his daughter in college. I sincerely hoped this incident will not affect his career.
.
His father, Donald Sutherland, is a great actor - my Dad and Grand's favorite. I saw a very old and very riveting movie called " The Eye of the Needle", and I can see where Kiefer got his acting ability. "Eye of the Needle" can't be re-made/make today. Any revision will not do justice to this old classic. It's just too good.
.
His family, specially his Dad are very supportive. Hope Kiefer gets back on tract.

I don't know why you guys are coming down on him. He has some problems...got busted...and is doing his time like a man. If he got a slap on the wrist it would be one thing.

It's comforting to know we can save the free world in only 24 hours and STILL have time to throw back a little Jack.

Why is he serving more time for the same crime as the other little girl celebs who got a slap on the hand and a free pass right out of jail?? Only Paris served any time. Lohan and the rest seems to have gotten a free pass from serving any time behind bars. Nicole Richie a whole what??? 45 mins, BFD. And the bigger farce, Lohan when she got to the jail to be book had cocain on her person. That was totally over looked.

Will someone please explain why Lindsey Lohan can drink and drive and get arrested over and over likewise Paris Hilton and Lindsey spent all of 48 seconds in jail and Paris didn't do much more despite being on probation, yet Kiefer Sutherland gets 48 DAYS???? What ever happened to equal treatment under the law?? Maybe if Paris or Lindsey or Brittany for that matter got 48 days, it might wake them up. Fair should be fair. My sympathy is with Kiefer. I don't condone DUI but c'mon people!!

Jail! 48 days in jail. WHY? Too many people in jail. We are a mean society. We jail people too easily. What's wrong with house arrest? An ankle bracket? Go to work, place of worship, and home.
We put people in jail for lying! Nonviolent people should not be in jail.

At least he isn't making a big circus out of it. He pleaded no contest. He took the course for drinking and driving. The judge handed him his verdict. He went straight to do his pennance. What more can one ask of the man?

Now that they've got him in custody, maybe the cops can use some of the "enhanced" interrogation techniques used on his show and get him to confess to a few unsolved crimes in the area.

Kiefer Sutherland is a very talented actor.

Note to neoconservatives: 24 is a fictional TV show and not a how-to manual for national security.
