G.E. Recalls 92,000 Microwave Ovens

AP:

General Electric recalled 92,000 combination wall and microwave ovens after at least 35 incidents of fire that damaged property, the company and the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Wednesday.

The door switch in the microwave oven can overheat and ignite plastic components in the appliance, the company said.

The lower thermal oven does not pose a hazard and no injuries have been reported, according to the commission.

GE PRODUCTS ARE BEING MADE IN CHINA NOW DO YOU KNOW WHY THERE IS A PROBLEM? A YEAR AGO I BOUGHT A GE DEHUMIDIFIER I ENDED UP WITH WATER ON MY RECROOM FLOOR WHERE I NEVER HAD ANY BEFORE. WHY? WELL, IT WAS MADE IN CHINA AND THE FORGOT TO POKE A HOLE IN THE TRAY THAT WOULD ALLOW THE MOISTURE (WATER) TO FLOW DOWNWARD INTO THE BUCKET. INSTEAD THE TRAY OVERFLOWED AND WENT ALL OVER THE FLOOR. LET'S HEAR IT FOR OUT SOURCING JOBS TO INCOMPETENT PEOPLE AND STILL CHARGING PRICES AS IF IT WERE MADE IN THE USA BY COMPETENT PEOPLE.

I stopped buying anything made by GE two years ago. I had previously been a dedicated GE buyer, but their quality went to the basement several years ago and this latest incident proves they have not learned their lessons. I would encourage everyone to not buy any product produced by GE.

Was the manufacturing of these ovens outsourced­...perhaps to China or Mexico? I wouldn't doubt it and if so, it wouldn't excuse GE from being sued either.

They should add another feature to their ad. Their ovens will also put that hickory smoke flaver in the food. That is,if you can get the food out before your house goes up in flames.
