Mike Huckabee appeared on CNN to explain why he was caught by reporters Tuesday when asked about the newly released National Intelligence Estimate report on nuclear weapons in Iran. Huckabee told reporters he was unaware of the new intelligence estimate. His lack of awareness about the events of the day has since become a talking point and caused Huckabee his share of embarrassment. This gaffe came during a week where his name has already been all over the news due to allegations regarding his role in the release of a serial rapist while he was governor of Arkansas.

The bottom line is that intelligence and ability have NO bearing anymore in someone's eligibility to become president. The Dumb States (Midwest and South) get to be "the deciders," and if a candidate claims to love Jeezis and hate fags and ragheads enough, they are golden. That is all it takes. Oh, that, and rednecks wanting to have a beer with him. Those are the litmus tests and nothing else matters

And this "know nothing" about international affairs, diplomacy, NIEs, etc., could end up as our next president? He makes Ron Paul look good.

Bush has been bad enough.

Romney, Guillianni, Thompson, Huckabee, and McCain
all compete for the same votes.
Ron Paul does not.

After 7 years of an uninformed, Jesus freak in the White House I'm ready for something new. Not Huchkleberry, not Clinton

Yes, too busy running his negative push polling against other republicans to keep up with the news, good Christian that he isn't.

It was bad enough that he released the man after he had been convicted of rape, along with a series of crimes all his life.

But the shame of it, and the reason why he is unfit to serve, is that he did it at the behest of a cabal of religious rightwing nuts WHO CLAIMED THE WOMAN HAD NEVER BEEN RAPED. This despite the witness testimony and the investigation report which he had at hand.

You see, the victim was a distant relative of Bill Clinton, and their partisan hatred stood in the way of her justice, and the safety of his constituency.

We've seen that kind of hatred for all these years, and want no part of it in the White house again.

Great - someone who just doesn't have time to keep up with what's happening in the news.

We've already had 7 years of a President with that problem and look at the mess we're in.

Perhaps the hardcore religious Huckabee thought that God would present him with the news via a golden parchment?

This should end the Huckabee campaign. Any candidate who can't set up and organize a staff able to identify, review and inform the candidate about a huge development with worldwide effects like the new Iran NIE is a terrible manager. There is no excuse for such a shoddy organization.

" Kuhn: I don"t know to what extent you have been briefed or been able to take a look at the NIE report that came out yesterday ...

Huckabee: I"m sorry?

Kuhn: The NIE report, the National Intelligence Estimate on Iran. Have you been briefed or been able to take a look at it "

Huckabee: No.

Kuhn: Have you heard of the finding?

Huckabee: No.

After Kuhn explained the NIE's findings to Huckabee, Huckabee seemed confused about what it meant. Beyond doing nothing to resolve doubts about his foreign policy qualifications, the exchange underscores the fact that Huckabee doesn't really have much of a campaign " National Review

Why didn't governor Huckleberry learn about the new Iran report when he stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last night?

This is a guy more in tune with fairy tales than reality.

Huck ad impressed me until this parole deal. Now, we know he is more attuned to what rightwing media wants by aiding in this dastardly parole. He had ample correspondence from victims and others that protecting the health and safety of the parolee was more important than protecting the health and safety of those who had warned of this loose cannonball.

In fairness, it's possible he was distracted by something more important than national security, such as reading "My Pet Goat".

i did not find the news about the NIE to be newsworthy, and i don't fault huckabee, who has no campaign funds, for not knowing about this non-news.

what is troubling is waas' reporting on huckabee releasing from prison a dangerous rapist who subsequently killed. this story may end his chances for the presidency, and if it does not, then huckabee will have shown that he is as wily as bill.

The new "Pa Kettle" of Presidential candidates.....GO AWAY!

I picture small bursts of combustion from each of the Republican candidates leaving small piles of ash as their pasts come back to haunt them and they flame out on the campaign trail. Last men standing?... John McCain and Ron Paul.
