House Oversight Committee Chairman Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.) is asking new Attorney General Michael B. Mukasey to release transcripts of interviews of President Bush, Vice President Cheney and other senior officials from the now-completed CIA leak investigation.

Waxman, who has been investigating the nature of the revelation of former CIA analyst Valerie Plame Wilson's identity in the summer of 2003, asked Mukasey in a letter released on Monday to intervene in his dispute with the White House, saying that Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald has already turned over notes and transcripts of non-grand-jury interviews with CIA and State Department officials.

Esteemed Speaker and Members of Congress;

I write in earnest concern over the health of Democracy in our Republic"excuse me, I mean "our Homeland".

The question is not "have Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney committed criminal acts full and sufficient to warrant impeachment and prosecution"; we know that they have, there are hundreds of websites hosted by constitutional scholars enumerating these crimes.

The question should not be "do the American people support impeachment"...the last poll fixed positives over 70%; a clear majority have favored impeachment for months. The American people favor having our daily hemorrhage of lives and treasure, influence and good will worldwide stop. They want lies, duplicity and power grabs to stop, democracy restored. THEY WANT CONGRESS TO DO THE JOB THEY WERE ELECTED TO DO.

The question should not be "do you have the votes in Congress" to make impeachment stick; given the popular support, Congressional votes WILL fall in line once you start investigations.

The question should be whether America is still a nation of laws. Do you believe ATHIS, or do you agree with Mr. Bush...that the Constitution is what the President says it is? Sheldon Whitehouse's Senate speech should have removed the last prop from your no-impeachment denial.

Mr. Cheney, goading your flaccid, impotent leadership, said: "They are not carrying the big sticks I would have expected." Did you never stand up to the school bully? Even un-paid, poorly armed and trained zealots in Iraq, knowing they were outnumbered and basically doomed, knew how to react when Mr. Bush taunted them to "Bring it on!".

Comes now Mr. Cheney and you cower behind sneers in your fearful knot of twittering indecision.

Are you cowardly, co-opted or complicit in these illegalities? If we do not hold them to the law, the next lot of dictator-wannabes will be worse; that is the lesson Mr. Cheney carries from the Nixon Administration.

Do your Constitutional duties to protect our country.

Impeach Mr. Bush and company...you have nothing to fear from the people...

We The People will support you.

Congressman Waxman, you're a saint for hanging in as long as you have with the worthless SOB's that pass for elected & appointed officials. When did being a loyal American go out of style? Dont give up, sir. We're doing our best to stay informed & to hold their feet to the fire.

Make the Bush-Cheney BS public? Wouldn't that expose somebody to ridicule? Especially when our media compares that BS to the known facts!
Ah, but as that great (movie) hero liked to say, "that'll be the day!"

However, isn't this old hat? Shouldn't someone now be reporting the progress our candidates are making in their Bush-look-alike contest?

Yea, that'll happen.
Whatever, we have caught them at their true colors many times and it didn't make a difference. Impeach the bastards, Mr. Waxman... do something other than hold up more proof of their insanity.

It would be so wonderful for someone to grant an open door into the room where the guys in the house are keeping their secret papers/picture and tapes but....they have done a very decent job of hiding all of those things we need to get to the truth away from everyone. I still doubt Fitz was as strong as he was supposed to be and didn't fold along the way. Waxman is at least asking the questions.

If you lie to a committee of either house of Congress, under oath or not you have committed a felony. Here is the pertinent law that covers it.

Yeah right. That would be oversight. There's no such thing as oversight anymore so they might at well disband the committee until Jan. 2009 and put those tax dollars to work by forgetting where they put them in Iraq or perhaps some new homes for Katrina victims sitting in a field in Arkansas decaying into the earth.

I'm glad my Congressman is trying to be a thorn in the side of the President, but I'm still voting for his Green Party opponent. I'd appreciate actual leadership to end the war rather than grandstanding.

While Waxman is good on some issues, his party has been a major let down and we need other parties represented in Congress.

Also, the westside of Los Angeles needs a Congressman who actively supports mass transit and will aggressively seek funding for rail projects like the Wilshire Blvd. subway, as opposed to passing laws which obstruct it for 20 years.

While I may vote for the Democrat for President because of the Supreme Court, I have no such reservations for voting for Congress and I'm ready to vote to replace Waxman with whoever his Green Party nominee is.

Just being a "Democrat" and lesser evil to a Republican isn't good enough anymore.
