Huckabee Explains

National Journal:

Mike Huckabee in Greensboro, N.C. tonight tried to respond to concerns about his lack of familiarity with the National Intelligence Estimate. Digging a deeper ditch? You decide ...

Well, first off all it was kind of an ambush question. It came out at ten in the morning, I think it was late that afternoon and the reporter said: Have you read it? You know, George Bush had had it for four years, and he hadn't read it yet, so I don't really know that it was a big deal that I had not yet seen it and read it because we had been on the campaign trail nonstop. In fact I was saying to the reporters, you know the reason I haven't seen it is because you guys have been tailing me all day asking me questions.

Isn't this why you pay a bunch of smart people to surround you and keep you up to date on important stuff?

Jeez, I can think of about 2 dozen Huffposters who could send Huckabee a text msg anytime something important came up -- if only to pay for Mom's Cheetoes and laundry detergent.

Why would anyone expect Huckleberry to read anything? He's damn near as ignorant as the "decider".

Indeed.

Bush lowered the bar for what's acceptable from a president. Why SHOULD Huckabee be expected to have a bit more intelligence?

Go head on Bob.

The republicans have done everything they can to create dystopia for the rest of us while they enjoy utopia. The stupidity of these people is astounding and their contempt for the intelligence of their followers leaves one breathless. They actually believe that people are stupid enough to believe that the poor President is much too busy to keep up with everything and if you think being President ties up your time try running for President.

Was the report upside down, or did it have goat pictures? If not President Bush might not have been able to read it.

this guy is funny and does have a good since of humor, BUT it won't be funny or fun if he's elected. Thought there was supposed to be a big gap between church and state, Bush has closed it and this turkey will just slam the door shut.

Sounds like another Bu$h to me. And so much as admitted it. Don't vote for this guy.

I'm so sick of Governors getting elected president in this country.

They always come in not knowing jack, and surround themselves with hicks from their State Capital days who know even less that they do.

So, is this the kind of excuse we will hear IF he is president? "I've been traveling all day and you guys have been following me asking questions." WELL, "The dog ate my homework" defense doesn't work in school, it shouldn't work here!

As much as I have problems with the huckster, he has a good point. The report had been out for a few hours, so his comparison is apt. He did not say I will never read it, only I have not had time yet. Perhaps he may have worded it differently, but then how many of you have read it? I say this is a pass.

So the conclusion is what? The less you know the more likely you are to become President of the United States? Reading is obviously for losers. What a funny country we have become.
