Employee Accuses Halliburton Of Covering Up Rape In Iraq

ABC's The Blotter:

A Houston, Texas woman says she was gang-raped by Halliburton/KBR coworkers in Baghdad, and the company and the U.S. government are covering up the incident.

Jamie Leigh Jones, now 22, says that after she was raped by multiple men at a KBR camp in the Green Zone, the company put her under guard in a shipping container with a bed and warned her that if she left Iraq for medical treatment, she'd be out of a job.

I see it is ABC but this somehow is lacking in credibility, should be a Dan Rather story...No dates, no evidence , she had to have been about 19 when it happened. So she just applied and went to Iraq? No rape kit, no doctors records and she waits two years because she is afraid they won't let her work in Iraq? After being gang raped that is preventing her from coming forward? This has the makings of a John Kerry boat ride.

Every single female, military and civilian are in constant danger while serving in Afghanistan or Iraq. Sexual assault, harrassment and rapes occur far more frequently than is reported.

I had all of my female soldiers travel in pairs day and night and issued them powerful whistles and mace as well as combatives training for their protection and even after all that some of them were still stalked.

Since it was a combat zone I instructed them that if they did find themselves in a hostile situation were rape appeared to be imminent to lock and load their M-16 and treat their assailant like the enemy and use deadly force if necessary. This was not officially SANCTIONED from the chain of command of course but I would have gladly taken the heat if one of my female soldiers had empty a clip into some rapist scums ass and said they did it on my authority. There is nothing lower than a fellow soldier taking advantage of one of their own.

Rape, Murder, theft, so what, Haliburton is exempt from being prosecuted from anything, besides anyone found guilty of anything will be pardoned by Bush. She would be better off telling the insurgents about the rapist and let them take care of them. Because that's the only justice she's going to see from the current group of crooks we have in the WH and Justice.
