Well, I guess we really do get the government we deserve. What? Do you really expect that they'd put in someone SMARTER than Bush for WH Press Secretary? She's perfect for the job she has been given.

Smart Americans have learned to expect less not more from this administration.

Perino's lack of basic knowledge about the Cuban Missile Crisis is an indictment of her basic qualifications to serve as press secretary.

Furthermore, her inability to realize just how much of an indictment such lack of knowledge is, to the point that she would casually annouce her ignorance on a national radio program, is an equal indictment of her qualifications.

Let's see, Kennedy was a Democrat, and they are evil, so the Cuban missile crisis never really happened. See how easy it is to be a Republican.

Maybe she's a product of the public school system. This is a symptom of the specialization in a modern economy, wherein it's better to know one thing really well, in this case PR stuff, then it is to have a shallow knowledge of many things. In the old days, you needed to know a lot of things to survive, now you do much better being an expert at one discipline. Perfect example are all of the people that post here. Unfortunately it's just wasted knowledge. You won't make a dime reading this stuff.

Blah Blah Blah....I give this woman credit for having the good humor to go on a comedy show and make fun of herself...
It is a shame that she doesn't have the knowledge of US history that is required for her job, but at least she has the brains to spin it with a humorous appearance on NPR....we can only hope that after this very public error and subsequent media feeding frenzy, that she went home and opened up a few history books to educate herself....

That's what happens when you have a child as a press secretary!!! She cannot even lie well for the Pres. That seems to be a must with this WH.

Read a blurb that said Dana's hubby was thrown in jail in D.C. last spring for not tying up his dog....you can't make this stuff up.
