Two car bombs, one of which targeted the U.N. refugee agency's offices, killed at least 45 people including 10 U.N. staff members Tuesday, authorities said.

Jean Fabre of the U.N. Development Program said it was still unknown who died or which U.N. agencies they represented. Fabre said he received the information from Marc Destanne De Bernis, the agency's top official in the Algerian capital.

Terrorism is a serious matter and will continue to be for as long as one group has more than another. It is a international police and intelligence problem that will only get worse as long as it it seen as a matter for war by stupid and greedy, elitist corporatists.

BushCo's GWOT is both a Crusade for Muslim Resources and a profiteering opportunity for the MIC and the Bush crime family w/ Darth as their consigliare. Iraq is producing far more terrorists than we are eliminating and the global movement towards corporate fascism will make the problem much worse.

Damn, and I thought they were just 'pissed' at us. Those damn refugee agencies invoke so much ire.

Bush is almost gone and more than likely, out next President will be a Democrat.

Our House and Congress have Democrat contol, and many old -school repubs are retiring at the end of their term.

I'm not defending/justifying Bush and the last decade of our representative leadership, but I'm not sure if this will end in '08.

I get it... "war on terror", Haliburton, inept foriegn policy, but it seems that these kind of terrorist actions preceded BushCo .

Iraq is terrible, but I'm not sure how it connects to car bombs in Algeria. Sigh...I can't believe I've come to this, but I don't think we will ever get out of the middle-east (i.e. Iraq), no matter who gets elected.

After this, maybe the UN will urge countries to send troops...but I couldn't even tell you if that would help. Probably not

These Islamists are insane. Reminds me of the Palestinian fanatics to tried to kill the diplomats trying to hand out Fulbright fellowships. They are truly their own worst enemies.

"The consequences of this political tradition materialized in January 1992 when a conservative military coup overturned four years of significant political and economic liberalization undertaken by President Chadli Benjedid in the late 1980s. Benjedid's extensive political and economic reforms, pursued to restore political legitimacy and public confidence in the government leadership, had opened the way for political opposition. The rise of the Islamic Salvation Front (Front Islamique du Salut--FIS) as the most significant opposition group threatened to challenge the secular orientation of the state. The coup took place only days before the second round of the first freely contested national elections, elections that were likely to usher in a new government dominated by Islamists (sometimes seen as fundamentalists). Since then, the virtual elimination of constitutional government and the resurrection of military authoritarianism have returned Algeria to the familiar situation of placing power in the hands of a small elite, nullifying almost all of the democratic freedoms and many of the free-market reforms of the preceding few years."

From the article:

"Algeria has been battling Islamic insurgents since the early 1990s, when the army canceled the second round of the country's first multiparty elections, stepping in to prevent likely victory by an Islamic fundamentalist party.

Islamist armed groups then turned to force to overthrow the government, with up to 200,000 people killed in the ensuing violence."

---------------

It is a strange thing, but when you hold elections, then cancel the elections because a Party you don't like is about to win, people get very pissed off.

It might happen in Pakistan also.

To prevent such happenings, we should send guys like Rove and Gonzales to Algeria for their expertise in fixing elections through carefully picked DOJ appointees and through building relationships with people like the Diebold CEO.

Algerians are just not very good at fixing elections using peaceful means.

With the Presidential campaign season officially under way, the Kucinich brigades plant ads on Huffpo, and the "forces of evil" plant bombs at an Algerian U.N. agency.

This is off topic, but...

We become our enemies.

Back to Algeria... I'm curious. What book was George reading with the students when the attack took place this time?

I'm sure Kucinich's Department of Peace is the answer to people who bomb refugee centers like this one.
Clearly these beheaders and car bombers just need to be 'understood'. Right?

And the thousands who ran screaming in the streets to kill a school teacher last week, even as millions in their country are on the brink of starvation.

Yours and Dennis' problem is simple. There are people in this world who are NOT like us. They are not motivated by the same morals or ruled by the same ethics. They want to kill you and me because we are infidels. They want to take over the world and kick women out of school and into burkhas. And they will kill whenever they can to make this new dark age a reality.
Peace is an empty word when faced with this kind of real threat.

There is a reality you don't want to face about these people who want to kill us. They are motivated by an evil, religious zealotry of hate, codified in their faith. It is poison, but they are not going to stop trying to kill us just because lay down for them.

Strength through Peace - Dennis Kucinich '08

I know this is off topic, but since Huffington Post has an adversion to doing anything but the most vapid stories (2 that I know of - Kucinich/Paul ticket story and the Dennis saw a U.F.O story) on Kucinich; I feel compelled to spend today reminding everyone that there is a candidate that has promised to put America back on the right path.

The media may not want to mention Kucinich but that won't stop me from making every comment about Kucinich - sorry but you forced me to this!

If you aren't sure who would best represent you in the White House, go to the below link and find out.
