What a lot of our so called politicians don't realize is that once all the ice is gone from the artic,there won't be any more cold water for the gulf stream. The cold water sinking in the artic is what makes the gulf stream work. If that cold water doesn't sink,it won't pull the warm water to it. The gulf stream stops and the gulf heats up. Nice for storms,bad for us.

According to TIME MAG's 10/1 WHO OWNS THE ARCTIC?, if the Northwest Passage was opened, it 'would cut an astonishing 5,000 miles (8,000 km) from the distance between Asia and Europe (instead of) through the Panama Canal, shipping traffic could explode.'

This is great news.

This is a new evidence of the global warming danger that will come faster and stronger than previously forecast.
Our priority is to cut our green gas emissions and we have to install a carbon tax that could progressivly raise to 1$ per gasoline litter. The tax is very easy to install (after a political agreement that has yet to be reached) and brings 2 advantages:
.the bad products or services are more expensive and then less used.
.the tax income can be invested in a lot of needed projects (new technologies, help for poor people or poor country to move to a less carbon fueled economy).

This winter the Arctic is experiencing below average temps. A few years like this may give the world a chance to organize against global pollution and CO2 gas emissions.

The trolls must be having a tough time with this post. There's nothing about Gore in it.

Some scientist are expecting next year to be a "lesser year," but melting is nonetheless expected to continue.

The article mentions that the melting of bright, sun-reflecting sea surface ice results in an unfortunate warming "feedback spiral":

'White sea ice reflects about 80 percent of the sun's heat off Earth, NASA's (climate scientist Jay) Zwally said. When there is no sea ice, about 90 percent of the heat goes into the ocean which then warms everything else up. Warmer oceans then lead to more melting.'

I'm amazed. In the article about Chucklebee's question to Twit, to a post it was nothing but atheists calling out these two for what they are; ignorant, backward, haters.

Now this article, with the science to back up what's happening in the Arctic (a LOT more threatening than the religious right), and suddenly the kool-aid drinkers come out.

I don't know what to think. Do they not feel anything in the defense of their superstitions? Or is it those atheists who for some reason lost their reason in the face of THIS science?

There seems to be four words that really bring out crowd who can't seem to let go of their simian past; Clinton, Gore, and global warming.

Wow summer comes and ice melts. Winter comes and ice grows. Not to mention that Polar bears are on the increase. In addition the tropical troposphere still shows no increase. Perhaps models do not equal facts.
