I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Christmas Tree

Politico:

This is one straight from the headlines of the Onion. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) has introduced a resolution (H.Res. 847) saying, and I am not making this up, that Christmas and Christians are important. The House is scheduled to vote on this groundbreaking resolution on Tuesday.

As someone with a Christian background, I can safely say this may be the silliest resolution ever introduced by, or voted upon, by Congress, although I am a little curious to see if anyone will vote against it.

The area I grew up in had something called the Lord's Day Act, which required stores to keep closed on Sunday. Times have changed. Now everything is open on Sundays, including gay bath houses. I wonder if the Lord's Day Act is still on the books?

Perhaps a resolution about amassing worldly things and coveting your neighbors stuff would please Jesus a little more.

Then we could do one about wars and killing.

Perhaps he would be a good little boy and show me in the bible where Christ was born on Saturnalia and why and how we are spossed to celebrate it with pagan symbolism.

Just so we are all clear on this - the 2 billion "Christans" world wide include the following religions:

African Independent Churches (AICs), the Aglipayan Church, Amish, Anglicans, Armenian Apostolic, Assemblies of God; Baptists, Calvary Chapel, Catholics, Christadelphians, Christian Science, the Community of Christ, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints ("Mormons"), Coptic Christians, Eastern Orthodox churches, Ethiopian Orthodox, Evangelicals, Iglesia ni Cristo, Jehovah's Witnesses, the Local Church, Lutherans, Methodists, Monophysites, Nestorians, the New Apostolic Church, Pentecostals, Plymouth Brethren, Presbyterians, the Salvation Army, Seventh-Day Adventists, Shakers, Stone-Campbell churches (Disciples of Christ; Churches of Christ; the "Christian Church and Churches of Christ"; the International Church of Christ); Uniate churches, United Church of Christ/Congregationalists, the Unity Church, Universal Church of the Kingdom of God, Vineyard churches and others.

So when these friggen idiots talk about the majority of the US and the World being Christian and somehow there must be a resolution stating that Christians are "important" they are including Pentacostals, Mormans, Catholics, Quakers, among others. Not that I have anything against these religions, but I am sure that the GOP doesn't really beleive that Pentacostals and Catholics and Quakers have any validity.

In other news, Congress spent much of todays session on debating the important issue of "How many Angels can fit on the head of a pin????"

I see this as comparable to legislation against what they call "partial birth abortions" -- a crowbar in the door of legal abortions.

This represents a wedge in the door of freedom of religion. Their first step on a path to make christianity the official state religion.

By default, it validates the thinking of idiots like Bill O'Lielly that "someone" thought they weren't important and needed this "protection."

Except none of them really think that - they're just trying to manufacture an issue where none exists.

Now that we've had congress verify that christians are important, I suppose that means we can't slaughter them wholesale. Or maybe it means we wont' be invading "christian" countries?

Tiny minds bring stupid legislation.

Other Tiny minds let them get away with it.

As I was liking to The Young Turks on Air America this morning they reported that this House Resolution passed. Only 9 members of congress voted against it.

WHAT THE F#$#K IS WRONG WITH US? Or better yet, what is WRONG WITH OUR CONGRESS?? There are much more important matters to decide upon, like healthcare for children, impending recession and a whole host of REAL concerns for AMERICANS.

BUT NO...........we have some F#*$KING A$$HOLE from Iowa who has shoved a corncob up his A$$ for (OH WAIT!! He's a republican.....I guess that corncob was a replacement for a PENIS!)

This country would be better off if we just worshiped whoever we wanted. But it seems that republicans like to force "christianity" upon us.

Until I die, I don't believe. And if I meet my Maker, I'll say HI.....and ask him why he created republicans.

My Children,

It has come to my attention that many of you are upset that folks
are taking my name out of the season. Maybe you've forgotten that I wasn't
actually born during this time of the year and that it was some of your
predecessors who decided to celebrate My birthday on what was actually a
time of pagan festival. Although I do appreciate being remembered anytime.

How I personally feel about this celebration can probably be most
easily understood by those of you who have been blessed with children of
your own. I don't care what you call the day. If you want to celebrate My
birth, just GET ALONG AND LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

Now, having said that let Me go on. If it bothers you that the> town in hich you live doesn't allow a scene depicting My birth, then just get rid of a couple of Santa?s and snowmen and put in a small Nativity scene on your own front lawn. If all My followers did that there wouldn't be any need for such a scene on the town square because there would be many of them all around town.

Stop worrying about the fact that people are calling the tree a
holiday tree, instead of a Christmas tree. It was I who made all trees. You
can remember Me anytime you see any tree. Decorate a grape vine if you wish.
I actually spoke of that one in a teaching, explaining who I am in
relation to you and what each of our tasks were. If you have forgotten that
one, look up John 15: 1 - 8.

If you want to give Me a present in remembrance of My birth, here
is my wish list. Choose something from it:

Christmas is important..but destroying evidence, lying under oath, war profiteering, and murder are not. Good thing the Repukes have their priorities straight.

Honest to F*CK! these morons can't pass a budget, can't pass a Hate Crimes Bill or ENDA, or do ANYTHING to end the War in Iraq....but Christmas that they can spend time on. Democrats go sit your fat a$$es on the steps outside Congress and deny the Repigs a quorum, if you can't do anything else.
