President Bush vetoed legislation Wednesday that would have expanded government-provided health insurance for children, his second slap-down of a bipartisan effort in Congress to dramatically increase funding for the popular program.

It was Bush's seventh veto in seven years -- all but one coming since Democrats took control of Congress in January. Wednesday was the deadline for Bush to act or let the bill become law. The president also vetoed an earlier, similar bill expanding the health insurance program.

The Democrats always go for the big showy easy step which requires abosolutely no effort on their part, followed by lots of e-mails saying "Send Us More Money, We Love Children."

Sorry, I don't buy it.

If the Democrats really want to do something on the healthcare issue, then don't wimp around on the edges, saying they want to help some 4 year old with cancer, with lots of cute photos so everyone will ooo and aaa in support. If they want to do something, then take a stand for free healthcare for all Americans.

Instead of showing photos of cute little kids, show photos of people in their 50s and 60s dying of cancer without treatment because they can't afford insurance. Show people who have lost all their teeth, because they can't afford to go to the dentist. Educate the public about how many millions of dollars go into the pockets of the health insurance and drug industries which do nothing for the rest of us.

Oh I forgot. The Democrats receive millions of dollars in bribes from the health insurance and drug companies in order for them to not do anything to help the people of the U.S. by giving all of us free healthcare. That's right. They take bribes to sell us out.

Then they claim that Bush is the bad guy. That's certainly true, but the Democrats are the ones taking the most money.

Tom Hartman of Air America, interviews more conservatives than any talker on the radio. He treats every one of them with the up most respect, Hartman lets them drowned in the absurdity of their own ideological positions. In a recent dialogue with Terry Guthries formally of Human Events and frequent political contributor for CNN. Mr. Guthries another evangelical Catholic who shames my religion, mentioned to Tom Hartman that once babies leave the womb their pretty much on their own, what a guy, a good Christian man. Hartman let this fool dig a whole for himself and just handed him a longer shovel, it"s amusing and sad to listen to these so-called religious phony conservatives sink in there own stupidly, defending the incompetent greedy bunch of thugs ever to whole power in this country.

35 years ago Goldwater told Richard Nixon it was time to go and he did, yet even Nixon had a pretty good domestic agenda like the EPA and OSHA. His own demons and the thugs that surrounded him wrecked his legacy taking him from 60% to 26% job approval in less than a year. W has been trying to remain relevant with a chronic job approval languishing between 24 and 34%, on a good day he might hit 37% yet he and his loyalist obstruct what close to 70% of American people want. Their own representatives and this piss poor excuse of a President are ignoring the well of the majority. The strategy of filibuster and veto everything is not serving the common good and will the majority is being rejected. This brand of phony religious zealotry, endless war, as well as robbing the nation blind is so foreign to American values and democracy that it"s always rejected like a disease from the body politic and this current crop of neo-con, religious zealots are heading over a cliff, with Bush-Cheney as the pied pipers.

Since we know the Dems are going to cave on unlimited war funding, why don't they at least put SCHIP into the war funding bill? Let's see him VETO THAT!

This is about taking care of our children. Sick children who need care. When your child is over 19 and can no longer be a full time student, he cannot be on your insurance. This can happen to anyone.

If people haven't figured out yet that all GOPERS care about is how much the check going into their bank account is for, and not how sick kids in this country are getting treatment, then I have ocean front property in Idaho to sell you!

I have ZERO issue in having a program to pay for indigent children's health care-- it's not their fault that their loser parents cannot find success in the greatest country with the greatest opportunities for success that has ever graced the planet. AND President Bush would have happily signed the original SCHIP bill WITH it's 5 BILLION dollar increase to help these kids. BUT, President BUSH is a responsible leader. The Dems wanted a 30 BILLION dollar increase to cover 22 year old "children." Give me a break. The Dems ruined their chances that this bill would be signed into law by trying to get universal health care through by this back door tactic.

Responsible Americans are sick and tired of picking up the slack for the ne'er do wells, and the losers that cannot find success here. We're sick of being in the grocery store and seeing our fellow lazy Americans with their Access cards buy steak and expensive foods that WE pay for, and we applaud our President for doing the right thing.

Have a Merry Christmas my misguided liberal Americans.

Shame on Congress and the resident EVIL in the white house. There is NO EXCUSE to not help people who really need help.

Peace to you TODAY.

In 2004 our son had to quit college because he was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He ended up on MA and was very sick for a very long time. I was campaigning for John Kerry at the time and was stupid enough to tell my sons story to republicans, hoping they would understand our need for some form of universal health care. I actually had republicans say to my face "why is you sick kid my problem?" So to my fellow Dems, that care about the children in our country...our son is doing great and is a senior in college. To all you republicans that only care about your money...take along walk!!

Forget compassion, conservatives. You'll find out why public health should matter to you when a big pandemic forces you into your private bunker (and I hope you stay there for ever) because the unwashed masses are gonna still be breathing your air. Or...maybe they'll cancel your health insurance for a pre-existing bump on your ass and a couple of months later you'll be forced to pay a quarter of a million dollars out of your filthy pocket for open heart surgery. The weight of your greed will crush you and take you out of the game. It certainly won't take you to Jesus.

"This bill does not put poor children first, and it moves our country's health care system in the wrong direction."

This VETO does not put poor children first, and it moves our country's health care system in the wrong direction!

But, BY ALL MEANS, keep giving that MURDERING MONSTER more TAXPAYERS' money for HIS WAR FOR WEALTH!

The "childrens do learn" that ONCE THEY'RE BORN they're NO LONGER our fearless leader's priority!!! (They WILL be NEEDED to participate in, and pay for, his KILLING FIELDS and OIL FIELDS in the Middle East, however, so he really SHOULD attempt to keep them alive as long as possible!?)

Stay safe, healthy and happy,
Love, Loretta

As of this date December 13, 2007 Bush has already vetoed the children's medicare bill and the Congress has already given Bush the 70 billion dollars to carry out his war with no strings attached.
Shame on the Democrats for having caved in.

Nothing surprises me anymore with W "The Decider" - that he vetoes something like health coverage for children is par for the course.

The important thing for W is that he remains "relevant" - as he says - by rendering a decision. It doesn't matter how inane it is.

How sad and pathetic.
