Romney Defends Faith But Won't Answer Huckabee Question on Jesus

Mitt Romney this morning deflected questions about his faith raised by rival Mike Huckabee, while maintaining that his religious beliefs should not be the focus of his campaign.

Romney refused to address questions about specific tenets of faith particular to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint, including whether or not the church believes that Jesus Christ is brother to the Devil.

On the issue of his general unwillingness to use the word Mormon in public, Romney responded:

I'm proud of my faith. I'm not going to distance myself from my faith in any way. If that sinks my candidacy, so be it.
