BeckWatch: Beck On Bush: 'The Worst Liar On The Planet'

Yesterday, we sent you readers off to enjoy a candid, "uncensored" interview with Glenn Beck on Breitbart TV, one that Beck himself pimped as a "great window into [his] soul." And what a window! We learned all sorts of new things about Glenn: his favorite philosophers, his leg tattoo, his love of holograms...

All of which is important and enlightening, but by far the most interesting new thing we've learned about Glenn from this interview is his take on President Bush. See, not too long ago, Glenn described having an off-the-record sit down with the President that stirred him deep inside. In this Breitbart interview, he offers a clarification, saying that he never meant to compare Bush to Abraham Lincoln. In fact, Beck surprisingly avers that he believes Bush to be "the worst liar on the planet." But, according to Beck, that's by design.

I don't mean to say that he lies...because we are globally connected, everyone is watching every move that anyone ever makes. And if you say the wrong thing...if you say what you mean and mean what you say here, people will say, "YEAH!" there. It'll be taken by al-Jazeera and crafted and used against us to whip everybody up...

I said, "Pay no attention to the weapons of mass destruction...this is about Iran." And everyone thought I was crazy. But I went back to one speech he gave...two days before the Iraq War...if you read between his lines you'll see...this isn't about Saddam Hussein. But you have to listen carefully. And the way he is when he speaks publicly. And that's why he's [makes unintelligible, simian grunts]...he gets all weird on you, because I think he's thinking, "I can't say that, what can I say."

So when Bush appears in public and seems to be a simpleton who cannot complete a sentence, this is actually an astoundingly clever bit of subterfuge!

But that's not the worst part.

When he was off the record...he leaned in and started talking, and I thought to myself, "Good God Almighty, I would hate to be an enemy of this man...He had such a command of the facts, he knew exactly what was going on, he was so clear, I thought, "This guy will just slice you up, and you won't even see it coming." And you never see that man of television.

Of course, when I think of leaders who are capable of "slicing people up," I think Idi Amin. Stalin. Pol Pot. Islom Karimov. Serbian warlords. A state that punishes the victim of a brutal gang rape with the lash. Frankly, I think: Saddam Hussein. And yet, this is what impresses Glenn Beck! Uhm...scary!
