The House on Thursday approved an intelligence bill that bans the CIA from using waterboarding, mock executions and other harsh interrogation methods.

The 222-199 vote sent the measure to the Senate, which still must act before it can go to President Bush. The White House has threatened a veto.

A few nuggets from avowed liberal Dershowitz...

"...This pacifistic stance appeals to the left wing of the democratic electorate, which may have some influence on the outcome of democratic primaries, but which is far less likely to determine the outcome of the general election...

"...Hundreds of thousands of Americans may watch Michael Moore's movies or cheer Cindy Sheehan's demonstrations, but tens of millions want the Moores and Sheehans of our nation as far away as possible from influencing national security policy...."

"...Although I am personally opposed to the use of torture, I have no doubt that any president--indeed any leader of a democratic nation--would in fact authorize some forms of torture against a captured terrorist if he believed that this was the only way of securing information necessary to prevent an imminent mass casualty attack..."

"...There are some who claim that torture is a nonissue because it never works--it only produces false information. This is simply not true, as evidenced by the many decent members of the French Resistance who, under Nazi torture, disclosed the locations of their closest friends and relatives..."

"...The Democrats may lose the presidency if they are seen as the party of MoveOn.org, Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, Dennis Kucinich and those senators who voted against Judge Mukasey because he refused to posture on a difficult issue relating to national security..."

George Washington wrote about British prisoners captured during the revolution: "Treat them with humanity, and let them have no reason to Complain of our Copying the brutal example of the British Army in their treatment of our unfortunate brethren¦. Provide everything necessary for them on the road." Bush and the Republicans and anyone who defends their "neocon policies" are an embarassment to us all. They defy traditional American morality and put all of us, most importantly our honorable fighting men and women, in jeopardy. They should be ashamed of themselves but they are not because they have no shame or morality.

We cannot ban torture.

Because...

We need to be able to TORTURE BUSH-CHENEY & CO.
when they are finally criminally indicted for their crimes against Americans and the world.

PANAMA CITY " President Bush strongly defended U.S. interrogation practices for detainees held in the war on terrorism Monday, insisting, "We do not torture."

Which Bush is lying to us?

There is at least one fucking Republicans with enough of a conscience to know that banning torture is about who we are, not what the terrorists are.

Frankly, I find it shameful to the extreme that there are fellow contrymen of mine who condone torture of other human beings.

It's a sad day when the president of the United States of America threatens to veto a bill banning torture.
With a recession around the corner, the highest deficit in the history of the country, a war lasting longer than WWII., multiple resignations and the most secret administration ever, I think we have been tortured enough.
Impeach!

I believe Ron Paul is our only chance to avoid dictatorship in the coming years.

Once the left gets its way and the just ask him again nicely questioning methods are in place for terrorists, will the left take any responsibility for the innocent lives and suffering caused by this policy?

The Bush administration is so blatantly, openly, shamelessly evil that they make, by their very existence, the perfect argument for Hell.

At every opportunity he tells the world "This country does not torture", yet he wants to kill a bill that would outlaw it. How does he do it? How does he keep two completely opposite thoughts in his head at the same time and still think both are perfectly viable----

Dumbya is a pathetic chump, he just loves criminality.
