Yesterday on "The View," Sherri Shepherd discussed taking her two-year-old son Jeffrey to a toy store that was having a sale instead of giving him a nap. She described the store, Giggle, as "a rich white folks' store."

What distinguishes a "rich white folks' store" from any other store? For Sherri, it's the inability to physically discipline her screaming child. Jeffrey was crying as they shopped for toys, but Sherri told the panel that, because she felt guilty about bringing him to the store instead of letting him nap, "I couldn't do what I normally would have done. Plus the people [were] looking at me like, this wasn't a store that looked like they beat the kids. So I had to do as the Romans do when I was in the Roman store."

It remains unclear whether these Romans came before or after the Christians.

Interesting topic about abuse and its racial affilliation. Recently I found out that in racialy diverse Singapore the type of abuse of immigrant home workers depended on the race of the employer. I wonder if Asian and African Americans think white America have it in their DNA to sexually abuse their children. You could say the statistics overwhelmingly say so. Culture vs. nature? Should we ignore these things?

Thank God Whoopie called her for what she is: A racist child abuser. I can't believe people are laughing at her horrid tale. I was too shell shocked to react.

OK, let me get this straight...she decides to take a tired autistic child shopping during naptime and he gets punished for reacting as any tired toddler would. And she's annoyed because she can't use physical violence on the child.

Can someone call Children's Services, please?

You are quite right Bowling for Revenge. All black parents raise their children the exact same way. Your scholarly academic research and your rigorously conducted observations prove this. Who knew that retail managers were PhDs? You really learn a lot by reading HuffPo.
BTW, black children who are physically disciplined are much more likely to be removed from their homes than are white children in identical situations. So in actuality white parents have much less to fear from authorities.

This woman was raised within a cult - the Jehovah Witness faith. Sadly they encourage their members to be wilfully ignorant. She is a prime example of an undeducated, incurious, untalented person who has been given a platform from which to spew her rank stupidity upon those people who are stupid enough to watch corporate infotainment and expect a positive, enlightening experience.

I think her comments were stupid. But, the bigger issue is her son. Sherry mentioned on a recent episode that her son showed some signs of autism. This could be the REAL problem here. I have a son with autism and it used to be impossible to shop with him. Well, that was before we detoxed him, healed his gut with diet and gave him the supplements he needed to focus. Sherry is probably very frustrated and scared her son is on the spectrum.

I managed "rich white folks" retail stores for years and far and away ...sadly...the black customers were the most cruel to their children.
Once I stepped between one "mother" and her child as she struck a tiny little boy, no older than 3, repeatedly on the top of his hand with a leather dog collar that she carried in her handbag, leaving raised welts. I guess it was the "portable" belt. Anyway she missed me within a hairs breath as I stepped between them and +she attempted to get a final blow in. I called mall security and low and behold the 2 security officers that arrived were black and refused to get involved. I was apaulled until later after the customer had left and one of my saleswomen, who was black, explained that that's just the way black folks discipline their children.
I also learned that "the village" that's raising them is allowed to physically discipline without fear.

ONE MORE TIME, PEOPLE: Sherri Shepherd is milking black female ghetto stupidity to the max and laughing all the way to the bank. She must’ve been Eddie Murphy’s model for that shameful character he played (Rasputia the mean, junk food-chugging queen) in that ridiculous movie of his. Think about it, this woman has an iron-clad 5-YEAR CONTRACT with The View, and the show’s producers, namely BabWa and Bill Geddie and all of ABC top brass are definitely perpetuating the racist racial stereotypes and negative myths by hiring her in the first place. It’s their in-your-face retaliation for the Star Jones disaster. And to make matters worse, if it’s possible, Entertainment Weekly lists Sherri Shepherd as one of the break-out stars of the year? What an insult. This woman is an embarrassment to women in general and black women specifically, and her parenting sucks. Let’s just hope that Child Protective Services is watching The View the next time she talks about spanking her two year old son who has developmental disabilities.

Let's see. Does she mean that in a "rich black person's store" she could beat her kid or does she assume all black people are from the projects where she clearly originated. I've taught in those project schools so I know they don't teach that the world is flat or that Jesus was the first human.

I don't mind obnoxious people: ie Rosie, Star, the Donald but I hate stupid people. Get rid of the bitch.

A child beater and a racist - all in one.

This is what the View is presenting to us.

Does anyone of the rest of the panel, Ms. Walters for example, object to the presence of this flat-Earth moron?

Her comment is as racist as it gets.
She is telling us that in a "black people's store" she would feel free to beat her kid - implying that all black people are just fine with abusing children.

She isn't gracing the View with her obnoxious presence for free. She is getting very well paid - and so the "rich white" crap is not only racist, it is hypocritical bullshit.

What sorts of stores does Shepherd usually shop in? I hate to even guess. That woman is just plain stupid; a trait that is neither cute nor funny.

Why would Sherri think to punish the kid for being tired and cranky? It was her fault he didn't get a nap. He's two, he still doesn't know how to convey his tiredness without crying. And to take him into a toystore when you know he's going to be cranky?

Her knowledge of parenting skills are about as 'evolved' as her knowledge of history.

Not sure what is most offensive here, Shepherd's overt racism, her pride in opportunistic child beating/spanking, or the far right host gleefully lapping up Shepherd's bile.
