Shilling And Clemens

Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling has called on Roger Clemens to give up four of his Cy Young Awards if he cannot clear his name after allegations in the Mitchell report that he used steroids.

While Clemens has denied allegations detailed by former Sen. George Mitchell's report into doping in Major League Baseball, Schilling wrote in his blog (38pitches.com) that he believes Clemens must take legal action to prove his innocence.

Wow! What happened to innocent until proven guilty? (I'm no Clemens fan but, sheesh!)

If he didn't win these recognitions on a level playing field, then he needs to rescind them but proving it might be difficult. Why these athletes do the things they do is beyond me but they sure make a mighty good living. Maybe that's part of it and maybe the adulation and ego is too. The bottom line is they have to live with their conscience. His reputation has already been tarnished so maybe that is the reward he reaps from cheating.

The "rocket" had a boost. For SHAME Roger, for SHAME! I agree, PROVE your innocence. You were just about washed up when you were traded to Toronto. And then, SOMETHING happened...like a needle going into your ass!

If you study Clemens statistics after the age of 35, they simply are not believable; just like Bonds.

The surprise to me is not that Schilling spoke out but rather that so few others have.

Schilling, Smoltz, Martinez, Glavine (hell, let's go back to Koufax; his arm turned black after pitching), have all performed in spite of pain, and others (Randy Johnson) simply cannot do it anymore.

And Clemens can? Becasue he does a bunch of sit-ups?

BS

Curt Schilling is just another judgmental asshole. From what I hear, most if not all of his own teammates can't stand his sanctimonious ass. BTW, Schilling is a Christian(supposedly) who chews tobacco on camera, every game. So much for the high moral ground. Is he a role model? I went to school with guys that chewed, and 1 of them just died of cancer. He was 40. Add to that the fact the Mitchell report is lacking hard proof in most cases. Schilling needs to STFU. If he can prove Clemens is guilty, well thats different. Until then....

Innocent until proven guilty? Hey folks, the Mitchell Report is not a criminal indictment, okay? Clemens isn't facing any legal jeopardy here. However, we're all members of the "jury" in the Court of Public Opinion, Schilling included. If Clemens feels he's been libeled or slandered in this Court, he can sue in a real court of law - or simply make public any proof that would refute the report. If he chooses not to do either, then he's fair game as a public figure, is he not? No more or no less than say Britney Spears.

If the shoe was on the other foot, Clemens would be calling for Schilling to give up all of his awards. With the notable exception of Jose Canseco, every one of these athletes is a lying piece of garbage.

1)It's still a free country (just barely). So Schilling has a right to his opinion.

2) I have a right to mine too. So I can say he's a fool to support McCain.

3) He also's a fool to say only Clements should do this. Instead, why not have every player who's ever used publically admit it and take the consequences?

4) These guys are all millionaires who can hire the best lawyers (and have the Player's Union backing them up). And of course nobody's rats out anybody else. So George Mitchell puts out a worthless report, the owners only care about money. And all these guys that have used and (continue to?) use steroids are laughing their rich asses off.

By Schillings logic Al Gore would have to give back all his accolades as nothing he has come out with can be proven

Typical loud-mouthed Red Sox hot air. These guys went what, 86 years without winning the Series, but kept yapping that they were the champs.

I'm not a Clemens fan, but this still is America, so he's innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around.

On his beaning crybaby Mike Piazza, though... Clemens says he didn't mean to hit him. That's his story and, as a Yankees fan, I'm sticking with it!

People want to crucify Clemens before any detaild are brought to the table. If I have read right and I beleive I have Clemens is accused of using the PED from about 1997-2002, or something like that. TO my knowlege the ban on steroids came in 2002, and HGH in 2005. I am not saying that he took them or not, but if he did he didnt do anything wrong. You cant break a rule if it didnt exist. That is the first point. Second maybe an employer can make an employee prove innocence. Here is a simple defense to that. Where is the documentation? Are you going to take an individauls word for it, cause somebodys word does not pull a whole lot of merit in the buisness world. At least not anymore. Show the paperwork. Anybody could go and say that a pro athlete went and used PED. Once it reaches the media it doesnt matter. Casue almost anybody is guilty within the realms of media. Remember Duke lacrosse. Everybody thought they were guilty until they were proven innocent. Once again somebodys word. THat proved to be not true. So if the investigator or that trainer wants to say something, fine, but provide paperwork. Even so the original point was if steroids did happen before 2002 it was not illegal within the realm of baseball. Maybe it wasnt the right thing to do, but it was not illegal.

Okay.

Then he should give up his world series rings, because not a single team he's ever played on, was clean.

He's a royal piece of shit.
