AP:

Just a week ago, the producers of Jamie Lynn Spears' hit TV show "Zoey 101" were wondering how fans might react to a plotline that had her character thinking of leaving her fantasy-land boarding school.

Now that Spears has disclosed that she's pregnant, the network has an even bigger, real-life plot twist to wrestle with.

The news came at an awkward time. The fourth season of the show has already been shot and is set to begin airing in February on Nickelodeon.

Executives must now figure out how to promote a program aimed at preteen girls whose 16-year-old role-model has tumbled from her pedestal.

jamie has no problems now that the pedophiles know there is a 16 year old that puts out. They will be willing to give her more money than she ever thought about making on that silly childish show she is on.

Well Preacher Huck has given his full support to Spears. I don't understand why. I guess he wants that southern evangelica vote. Cause to girls sure have a lot of unwed mommas.

Oh, come on. None of you people had sex when you were 16? Lighten up.
The baby, no doubt, will inherit good looks, hopefully a bit of talent and, barring screw-ups, a fistful of cash.
I wish Jamie Lynn, her boyfriend and their baby all the best luck in the world.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16862643/

consensual ORAL sex among a 15 year old girl & a 17 year old guy. the guy had a promising future ahead with football scholarships, but instead gets sent to prison for 10 years. with our biased justice system, of course the couple is black.

spears is 16 years old & the presumed father is 18. why isn't the father held to a similar standard of statutory rape? age of consent is still 17 years old in louisiana. this is unless the act occurred in one of the neighboring states with a 16 year old consent age.

and why is nickelodeon even considering airing her show. television has become a freak show. what's next, a collaborative book on parenting from spears' & lohan's mothers?

Dear Nickelodeon:
Drop her from the show! It may get her attention and make her actually think! Stop enabling the dysfunctional for your bottom line: try supporting someone with true values ... taking responsibility for safe sex is a big start. We don't need irresponsible (oops, I'm pregnant) kids raising babies as role models for our youth!

Jamie Lynn Spears while evidently not intelligent enough to keep her knees together or use birth control is not going to rely on the American taxpayer to support her kid. Her pregnancy is her and her families business. She made a poor choice but that doesn't make her 'Trailer trash.' She can evidently support herself and her child unlike millions of other underage, unmarried mothers out there. That puts her at least a few steps above 'Trailer Trash.'
With that said, Nickelodeon is a kid's channel and it's performers are loved and looked up to by little ones. If you are making a living marketing yourself to children then there are expectations of your behavior. If the show is cancelled Spears has only herself to blame.

all I know is I bet DINA LOHAN is poppin' the bubbly in celebration that she no longer looks like the worst stage mom in H'wood.
She should send Lynn Spears a Thank You card.

Well, now there's a change. A baby as a publicity stunt to gain Ms. Overlooked Spears some more notice.

Ah, well, it is far better than the right wing's archaic "baby as punishment" scheme for "those sluts" needing abortions.

I know the culture is dumbed down, but I expect more from journalists: "its" is possessive, "it's" means it is.

And it's about time the majority of Americans learn the difference between "your" (possessive) and "you're" (you are - an idiot!).

Right on, SatanicPanic!

Parents of teens or preteens should tell their daughters that Jamie is an ACTRESS which is a job. Jamie may not resemble her character in real life, which is an example of what an actress does. Parents may take it as an opportunity to point out that using television actors or pop stars as role models may not be the best idea and point out role models they do want their children to look up to.

If we get in the dicey territory of firing entertainers because they do not resememble their characters or network intentions or they are not good role models - there won't be much for anyone to watch. Do we really want "behaviour control"?

Jamie has made a serious mistake that as any young unmarried girl who finds themselves in a similar position, is going to have major reprecussions for the rest of her life. That is real life and that is consequences for this young girl. It's bad enough she has to do it in the spotlight, but as long as she can perform her job, she should not have to lose it.
