Barack Obama, last night in Portsmouth, N.H., adivising a guy wearing a Santa hat to go to his Web site to learn more about his plan to combat global warming.

"I talk to Al Gore about every three weeks, and we're going to make sure that your home at the North Pole is still available to you," reports NBC/NJ's Erin McPike.

Obama is okay, I just worry he's another Jimmy Carter in the making-guy w/ brains and heart, but when he gets into the White House, gets the Deer in the headlights routine whenever real pressure is on. We can't have that, you know? Carter is okay by me, but NOT as a Prezzie, we paid for it as a country. If Obama can convince me that he will actually remember we're a Superpower, to go along w/ his other finer traits-then great.

Not that Hilary or Edwards are great by any shot.

Well the Republicans have Obama beat on this.

Brother Mitt goes for a walk each week with Dr. King. Sometimes in Grosse Point. Sometimes in Selma. (Depends on the weather).

Jesus calls Pastor Mike at least once each day. (Note that's Jesus calls Mike not the other way around).

I believe I have Al Gore figured out:

In the words of former Campaign Manager Donna Brazile "Al Gore will be a kingmaker, not a candidate".

If Al Gore did prefer Edwards, Clinton, or Obama he would be pushing them to the king position. Therefore, Al Gore doesn't prefer any of them.

Al Gore prefers Richardson. True, Richardson's energy plan is more thorough and tougher than the rest. But Al Gore would not endorse Richardson as polls show support just below what is needed to push Richardson to the king spot.

So where is that Gore endorsement? Oh that's right, it doesn't exist yet. Of course it might - but there are really only a couple days left for it to matter much. I guess it's better to insinuate that you have something that you don't. ::shrug::

Maybe Obama is just Hoping...

Hey Obama, just remember 2004 and Al Gore's endorsement of Howard Dean. That one didn't work out too well for Dr. Dean.

Scientists are telling us differing things about global warming, and what causes it. The real obvious human-caused problem is pollution, not warming; warming is probably caused by sun changes, not primarily human changes, and is probably cyclical. I am surprised that Edwards buys into Al Gore's explanation. I had thought he was the best Democratic candidate. This shows real lack of perception in that area. Obama must share this lack of perception, and is also, as stated by some posters, throwing around the Gore name for effect.

Yes, Gore was cheated of the election, however.

Obama and Gore are free traders, but Gore might not trust how Obama would compromise on global warming with the business execs seated at the table.

Edwards' global warming policy has been compared line by line with Gore's position and comes as close as can be. Edwards was endorsed by Friends of the Earth. Gore considered Edwards for his vice president back in 2000.

Gore and Hillary were rivals during the Clinton presidency and during his drive to raise money during the 2000 season. I can't see an endorsement for Hillary in the wings.

In any case, Gore will be willing to talk to everyone about global warming. He will be hesitant about coming out with an endorsement in the open too early, as it did not help Dean, his previous 2004 favorite.

Funny, the media plays this like name dropping to get a story, yet it was more like a reporter listening in at some point on a one-off comment to someone at a townhall meeting while meeting voters.

In any case, the fact of the matter is that is that Edwards stands more of a chance to get a Gore endorsement, but who knows. Gore probably won't endorse at all.

In any case, if he did, it would be very different from 2003 - at that point Gore was just recovering from a humiliating court fight against Bush and a loss after winning the popular vote. It was between 2003-now that he got back on his feet and set out on a mission to educate people about climate change, and I'd say he's done a good job of it, as it's one of the top issues people are thinking about.

He talk to VP Al Gore every three weeks, how come Al Gore hasn't endorsed him? He's supposed to be the new RFK and JFK, how come RFK Jr., ENDORSED Hillary instead of him?

General Wes Clark endorsed Hillary Clinton, 32 former US Ambassadors endorsed Hillary Clinton. IF Obama as his THIN RESUME shows is better than Hillary, how come he did not get their endorsements?

A REAL leader, show his work by TRACK RECORDS and EXPERIENCE not highfalutin words. A real leader takes responsibility, make hard decisions instead of saying PRESENT.

Obama did not show any leadership skill when he has the chance to do as Subcomittee Chairman for European Foreign Relation.

Hee's EMPTY SUIT and a WEASEL as one poster described him in one of the threads in this blog the other day. An APPROPRIATE description of Obama.

What do you think the men and women in uniform think of Obama while singing the National Anthem with his hand resting on his crotch? Do you think OUR MILITARY will respect him, when HE (OBAMA) have not shown RESPECT for our flag?

Huffington Post Video: John Edwards + Ben Harper = Most Electable?

12/21/07

by Ari Melber, noted writer, The Nation

"How bad do you want to win back the White House? As the primaries finally approach, a growing share of Democratic voters say choosing the most electable candidate is more important than the issues, according to a brand new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll. (Voters who prioritize electability are now 45 percent of the Democratic electorate, up 9 points from last month.) Now I think electability is a strategically flawed and morally vapid way to pick the next President. We should vote for leaders, not general election strategies.

But on top of that, it's striking that most Democrats wrongly think that being a primary frontunner means a candidate is most likely to win the general election. Over six out of ten Democrats say Clinton is the most electable, for example, in last week's CBS/New York Times poll. But a battery of national polls suggest John Edwards is the most electable candidate. Average all the head-to-head polls from July until now, and Edwards beats Republicans by an average of 8 points, while Obama averages a 5-point edge and Clinton nets only a 3-point lead. (Some individual polls show larger leads for each candidate, of course, but these are the broader trends.) This sharp YouTube video tells the story quite clearly, complete with a Ben Harper soundtrack. Readers should note that it was produced by the Jed Report blogger, who runs an anti-Hillary site, but the polls are public and the methodology is available. And I'm not sure what's worse: applying electability to pick the Commander in Chief, or applying it incorrectly.

All of the major Democratic candidates have talked to Gore for advice on the environment... I didn't know that Obama did it that frequently.

Not that he's throwing around names. Sounds like the reporter just happened to over hear it.

(BTW, what's with all these people dressing up in costume for these? Is that the only way to get them to talk to you?)

I'm glad Gore is out of politics. It wasn't his thing. He seems happier now.

The last Gore endorsement I remember was Dean.

It's normal for Obama to court Gore, Obama imitates all things Clinton.

The Obama hypocrites have turned the Democratic party into a battle ground. Is this what they mean by unity?

Obama, The unity candidate? Give me a break.
