AP:

As NASA astronaut Daniel Tani orbited Earth, hundreds of mourners filled a suburban Chicago church Sunday to remember his 90-year-old mother as someone who endured hardship to raise five children and worked until age 70.

Rose Tani died Dec. 19 when a train struck her car. Daniel Tani, 46, who is aboard the international space station, could not travel back for the service at his mother's church, First Church of Lombard, and sent a video message.

It must be horrible to lose a parent in such an unexpectedly tragic manner. And to make the situation even worst, Mr. Tani is unable to go home to his mother's funeral and partake of the moral support and empathy that only a family can give to help alleviate this inconsolable pain.
My deepest condolences go out to Mr. Tani and his family. May your memories of the love and care your mother gave you, help you through this sorrowful time.

What kind of a disrespectful heading is this?! "Stuck in space." Have you got no shame? Anything to register some hits on the blog, eh?
Despicable.

A man is doing his duty and heroically I might say.

MY condolences and a safe journey home, Mr. Tani.

Not to take anything away from Daniel, with whom I deeply sympathize.

But...

I'm sure HuffPo hit THIS STORY as well, and that I just missed it.

We offer our consolations, Daniel. Only special women get to raise an astronaut. Your mother was one.
