Clinton Lists 230 Foreign Policy Gurus Backing Her

Senator Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has released a list of more than 230 foreign policy figures in support of her campaign, including 160 officials who served in the Clinton White House.

The move, which came late on Wednesday, capped days of back and forth between the Obama and Clinton campaign over which candidate had the majority of foreign policy gurus in his or her corner.

The Clinton camp list includes two former secretaries of state - Madeline Albright and Warren Christopher - as well a former secretary of defense - William Perry - and more than 35 former and current ambassadors.

The campaign also included several officials whose expertise was in either banking or trading or whose job description was speechwriting. Every member of Congress who has endorsed Sen. Clinton and sits on a foreign policy-related committee or subcommittee was added as well.

The list is an expansion on the 84 names the Clinton campaign released on Sunday. That initial disclosure was prompted by a statement by Sen. Barack Obama that he received more support from Clinton officials than did Hillary.

"You could argue that there are more foreign policy experts from the Clinton administration supporting me than Senator Clinton," he said, which "should raise some pretty interesting questions."

And while Obama does receive the backing of prominent Clinton officials such as Tony Lake, the former National Security Advisor, and Susan Rice, a former assistant secretary of state for African Affairs, the Clinton camp was quick to criticize Obama for disregarding the truth.

"Senator Obama is attacking Sen. Clinton by making demonstrably false claims about his foreign policy credentials that only raise more questions about his own lack of experience," said Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer
