A day after the Huffington Post first reported it, The New York Times has announced that it has indeed hired conservative pundit, and Fox News analyst, Bill Kristol, as a new regular op-ed columnist.

Liberal bloggers had been up in arms over the move, which Kristol said, in an interview with Politico.com, gave him some pleasure. Kristol was perhaps the most influential pundit of all in promoting the U.S. invasion of Iraq and has strongly defended the move ever since.

He will be a fiction writer just like he is at the Meekly Standard.

Just proves had bad the NY Times is. Rupert Murderdoch, King of the Chickenhawks, is the organ grinder, Kristol is his monkey. The Weakly Standard is a phony magazine so Kristol can have a title when he is introduced on Faux News. The NY Times is now as bad as Faux News. Might as well read the National Enquirer, it now has far better reporters.

Well, hell yeah!!! Kristol deserves the job.
Had he not marched, sweated and bled alongside blue-collar grunts in Army basic training I might feel different. But Kristol's not the kind of guy to push for war had he not been part of the great unwashed when it was his turn in Vietnam. Kristol's a vet and deserves respect for service to his country.
What? You say he isn't? He was a hawk in Vietnam and didn't go? That he's the leading neocon hawk today, too? Well, sonofabitch!
Go figure. I guess life isn't fair after all.

More political opinions that aren't worth the paper they're written on. The oil will pay for the war, they'll throw flowers at our feet, mission accomplished, the surge is working. So the dumber you are and the more mistakes your make the more qualified for a job at the NYT you become. Hmm, sounds like the Bush WH to me.

Paul Krugman is the only thing worth reading in the NY Times. Frank Rich is occasionally amusing and the food and wine sections are good but the rest of it is only good for wrapping fish or lining a bird cage.

I never read William Saphire, and I never read David Brooks. I will take great pleasure in never reading Bill Kristol!

William "the Bloody" Kristol is a beady eyed warmonger calling for the US to invade Iran. Now he'll have his own column to write lies and trash ala Judy Miller.

It's one of those "What are they thinking!" moments as we scratch our heads in bewilderment.

Buh bye New York Times. It no longer stands for anything but pandering. Yes Krugman and Rich and Herbert are worth reading. But Mr. All War All the Time with other people's children Kristol is a step too far. Yes, Sulzburger will kill this paper with yet another another ill-considered decision. I'm out.

everybody should email the times and let them know just how offensive this is: publisher@nytimes.com

Andy Rosenthal, the idiot who is the editorial page editor of the Times calls Kristol a "a serious, respected conservative intellectual". This is a most original use and definition of the words "serious", "respected" and "intellectual". Bravo Andy.

He went on to say that there is nothing wrong with "giving voice" to Kristol.

I would like to make Andy boy aware that Kristol already has been given a voice by a number of freak-shows including Fox News. The Times is hoping to make some money off this semi-literate nut.
The Times has already become only marginally literate, so this does not represent much of a stretch for them.

i just read that he is taking pleasure in our outrage, that means that instead of wondering why we are outraged and the damage his rouged ass has done to this country, he is getting a kick out of all this. i have cancelled my subscroption to the nyt, it may not do any good, but i won't have to watch yet another american institution roll toward the gutter

Kristol is an arrogant warmongering prick. I can't stand the sight of him. I don't understand why he shows up so often on the Daily Show. I can't believe the NYT has hired him. He's the poster boy for the current disgraceful administrtion. What a giant step backwards for the NYT.
Bah.

Just what the NY times needs another stenographer for the right wing slime machine.I gave up reading anything they said after the Judy Miller fiasco. When they go out of business it will be a good thing.Nature abhors a vacuum and another paper will fill the center in NY.

Just add whiz kid Doug Feith to the line up and they'll be all set.

The Times is pandering to the right.
It is following the well-trodden path of "liberals" who pander to the right to show how liberal they are.
