Benazir Bhutto was so fearful for her life that she tried to hire British and American security firms, including Blackwater, to protect her, but Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf refused to allow the foreign contractors to operate in Pakistan, her aides said.

"She asked to bring in trained security personnel from abroad," said Mark Siegel, her U.S. representative. "In fact, she and her husband repeatedly tried to get visas for such protection, but they were denied by the government of Pakistan."

The sans Blackwater Bhutto connection just serves to remind us that if you are operating on the big time world political stage, you are going to come in contact with some very strange people. And what was that nonsense about the General and the former Prime Minister agreeing to work together? Was that some kind of joke?

I would like to question whether Bhutto was accusing or laying blame at the feet of the military group in power because it was easier to do (short of insults and revenge), and not at Islamist groups. One could hardly blame groups from whom one might expect support and votes.

Besides all that, Blackwater is sitting fat and happy and probably dont want a piece of what one could expect in Pakistan. Too remote, dreadful logistics and a highly restrictive operating rules, kinda like Mexico where one can stick out like a sore thumb.

"It's odd and disturbing that the Pakistan government did not do a better job of protecting her and that the U.S. apparently could not do more to persuade them," said Bruce Riedel, a former CIA officer and former National Security Council director for South Asia.

It's not that odd when you consider who had the most to gain from Bhutto's death.

Let's face it, Pakistan is and was the Clear and Present Danger before and after 9/11, that Iraq was not. Instead of staying in Afghanistan, and getting Bin Laden, and cleaning up the Taliban, if it took years, and meant killing every last person in agreement with them, in Afghanistan or Pakistan, that would have been and should have been what was done.

Bush has been the absolutely worst President ever, and at a time when we needed superb, not below mediocre, leadership. Musharaff played him like a cheap guitar and he has to be held responsible for the death of Bhutto. He should have given her security equal to or greater than his, and by failing to do so, he is responsible, because the inevitibility of her death was a given under those circumstances.

It will take a different President, and a different strategy, and a different emphasis to take care of Pakistan. First of all, those nukes have to be neutralized, period. My son is a former nuclear expert in the military and he says we can destroy their capability with conventional weaponry, but it would take a very strong hit on everywhere they and their components could be.

The other alternative is to make it clear to Musharaff, or whomever is in charge, that the U.S. and the allies eant to be given immediate and complete access to and evaluation of all nuclear weapons and sites, and monitoring capacity to it, or we shall have to bomb Pakistan, with the ensuing horrible results, until the Pakistanis and Al Qaeda wouldn't be healthy enough or in numbers to cause any problems for anyone. No one wants to do that, but Pakistan and the world have to go after the Taliban and the Al Qaeda people and their sympathizers and put those nuclear facilities and weapons in a situation where they cannot be accessed by rogue elements or others within the military or intelligence services.

Bhutto was clearly shot. I knew the true videotape would surface sooner or later with all of those people present. Just go to rawstory dot com. There is a link at the top that states: "video: 'The most conclusive evidence' Bhutto was shot". You can see that her veil and her hair lift up at the very same time the first shot is fired and she immediately buckles. This is before the bomb. It shows this in slo-mo. How long does it take the news to report the truth? If at all? C'mon Huffpo...the woman was shot to death.

Out now, I fully agree. Its more than likely blackwater had alot to do with this killing. Keep in mind, they are not just white bread americans. Many got recruited from the middle east. A fact they don't want the public to know. Didn't it ever occur to anyone how they just appeared after 911? Clinton knew about them, didn't want any part of them. The public won't want to hear this, but 911 very well could have been done and covered up by blackwater. How else do you explain how the deaths of passengers just occured, no prior warnings? I will tell you why, they were on the payroll of the Bush administrtion. Bhutto's son needs to watch his back, I don't think they will stop at just his mom. Bush doesn't want any of them near a campaign in that country, much less to win it.

General Gul who was former head of ISI said that Musharraf didn't provide security so that AQ could get a clear shot. There were no police at the scene. Bhutto was dead meat and Bush knew it. But the dictator/ General Musharraf has to please Bush and AQ and the Taliban. I knew that Bhutto should not have returned.

We just send money to prop up dictators. The US needed Pakistan for pipelines and entry into Iraq. Bush, like many Republicans, always pick their man like Saddam Hussein or Noriega then when the time comes they pop that guy too. The Democrats have done this also like JFK did Diem in Vietnam.

Regime change is our word for colonial control. You have to spread Democracy even if it is the Shah of Iran. Marcos and Pinochet and Franco, they are all the same.

Musharraf has nukes so we are totally powerless. We gave him good money but remember: he is dealing with the Chinese. Money is what it's all about. The Red Mosque was about the Chinese that were kidnapped. China isn't going to put up with that!

Democracy isn't coming to Pakistan any time soon. A nuclear war is more likely to come there than anywhere. Bush screwed up again as per usual.

Its not directly Bush's fault. But he is the one who has coddled Musharraf which made it possible for Bhutto to return and go to the grave in her own country. And no one knows for sure if she was allowed back as a favor to Musharraf, or as a favor to Bhutto for sure. But directly or indirectly, Bush was involved in making Musharraf more wealthy and more powerful than he has ever been.

Yeah, like Blackwater would be granted exemption from Pakistani law to kill Pakistani citizens whenever and wherever it might happen ... any time they felt 'threatened'.

Viewing the video and still images available from the attack, it is evident that Bhutto herself is equally to blame for for her own death by fully exposing herself to attack in an extremely chaotic and insecure situation, with hundreds of people surrounding her very slow-moving vehicle.

With a plan A like;

Saddam has WMD's,
Saddam is an imminent threat to America,
We will be greeted as liberators and,
The oil, not soldier's blood, will pay for the war.

Who needs a Plan B.

Jeezus, the Superheroes From Blackwater could have saved the day. Might have mowed down a few hundred innocent citizens in the process, but she might still be around. Either way, Big PR Payday for Blackwater. Thanks for posting this crap. Jack Out.

Benazir Bhutto knew well before of what threats were waiting ahead on her return to Pakistan. As I am sure that she had to have plenty of Security, outside of Pakistan, or she would have been killed a long time ago. She would have had the same kind of Security that our current crop of Presidential Candidates have at least. Even our various celebrities like Rosie O'Donnell has Armed body guards to protect them, but I don't see where the White House is responsible for any of them. The one thing in common in all of these situations is that the "Target" is the one who is responsible for their Own Security.
I feel bad that Mrs. Benazir Bhutto was killed, but she made her own decisions, and that it what got herself and others put in danger, and which ultimately led to not only her own Death, but to the Deaths of Hundreds of others.
She knew the risks, as everybody in the World was telling her how stupid this escapade was, and yet she still placed herself in jeopardy, and paid the Ultimate price for it.
But what this should show the world, is just how Deranged the Islamic Fundlementalists are in their Desires to suppress any kind of modernization of thoughts and beliefs, and how they plan to maintain a 7th century religious mentality among their populations. Such as can be seen in the following video clip:
http://www.memritv.org/clip/en/1600.htm
or watch any of these videos:
http://www.memritv.org/content/en/all_clips.htm
to see just what kind of Threats are still out there to our own form of Democracy. Unless of course you believe that we should consider all females to be the Property of their Male Relatives, and that Homosexuals should be hanged in the Public Square.
Just how does this fit in with your Liberal Philosphies?

If this is true, from my point of view, there's your proof Pervez was responsible, nomatter who pulled the trigger.

It's impossible to believe that Bhutto did not have access to the armed wing of the Republican Party. This is disinformation

If Bush even thought about letting Blackwater go to pakistan the dems would have hammered him. The dems hate Blackwater when in front of reporters but love Blackwater when in front of insurgents.

Musharraf owed his position to stay in power from Al Qeada and the Taliban. Benazir went back to Pakistan to run again for the third time at the urging of Bush and Condi; only Benazir can give the US and NATO greater control with the northern part of Pakistan that serves as a escape route for Al Qeada, Taliban & Kashimiri who unite forces now to duke it out with US forces and NATO in Afghanistan. Pakistani intelligence supplies intel to Al Qeada. Why would Musharraf agrees for international security to guard Benazir? Bush could have insisted with Musharraf to allow international security, he didn't.

There's no democracy under a dictatorial form of government; Bush and Condi have been fooling the American people to the tune of $10 billions, half of the said money cannot be accounted. That's what this administration has been giving to Musharraf. Pakistan now is the center of terrorism.

hmmmmm...

BBC Censored Benazir Bhutto's Reports that Bin Laden Had Been Murdered
http://existentialistcowboy.blogspot.com/2007/12/bbc-censored-benazir-bhuttos-reports.html

Why would Musharaaf deny her security ?

Why would the streets where her assassination was executed be power washed within 1 hr of the crime ?

Who benefits from her death ? Answer this, then you solve whom had her killed or who killed her. W, your boy "Mushy" is sloppy and so are you and the ISI.

shhhhhhh

The words "Bush" and "Balls" in the same sentence looks comical!!
Bhutto, even being a woman, had more balls than Bush could ever dream about, and if Blackwater had ever set foot in Pakistan, they would be.....oh, what is that word?? oh yea, I remember now....DEAD...

Ms. Bhutto was sacrificed by the US in trying to displace Musaraf who was moving away from the West and was of no further use to the US. He struck back by taking out the most prized US asset, and that is all there is.

Now al-Qaeda is more useful to Musaraf then the US is, and the US is by the balls and will pay to Musaraf for a long time, like it paid to Saddam.

Ms. Bhutto"s Dad, who was hanged in revenge for the stuff he did when he was in power, established PPP in Pakistan, and it appears that the family thinks they own the so called PPP, as it is willed to the 19 years old! The wonderful democracy Ms. Bhutto was to establish!

If Bush had any balls, he would have threatened to cut off all foreign aide to Pakistan if she wasn't allowed to hire a US SECURITY FIRM.
