Dodd: Second-Choice Endorsements Are Offensive

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) on Wednesday said he would not urge his supporters to back another Democratic presidential candidate as their second choice in Thursday's Iowa caucus.

Dodd said on MSNBC that rival campaigns have been seeking a second-choice endorsement from his languishing campaign, which has consistently polled in the low single digits in the state.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D) on Tuesday urged his supporters to back Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if the Ohio congressman does not reach the required 15 percent viability in the first round of voting at caucus locations.

Pressed for what he had been offered by opponents, Dodd declined to elaborate but said voters should be offended by such arrangements.
