You can never shut down the clarion call of violence because it appeals strongly to a population's sense of hopelessness. But you CAN give them real Hope.

These violent zealots imagine that they speak for their religion, for their nation, and for their god when they shout out this message ... and it has been shouted since the dawn of time ... but when the shrapnel finally settles all they have promised or delivered to their erstwhile disciple is an explosion with the disciple in the middle of it. Their nation and their countrymen wash-down the sidewalks and continue with their lives.

Yes, hope. Why not real hope? What do they need? What can we do to ... really help them, without trying to abolish them? And, is there nothing that America could learn from this civilization of men which is many thousands of years old, while ours is a mere two-hundred-plus? Is THIS "the only way?" I think not.
