Bush Cheney Impeachment Mcgovern

Washington Post:

As we enter the eighth year of the Bush-Cheney administration, I have belatedly and painfully concluded that the only honorable course for me is to urge the impeachment of the president and the vice president.

After the 1972 presidential election, I stood clear of calls to impeach President Richard M. Nixon for his misconduct during the campaign. I thought that my joining the impeachment effort would be seen as an expression of personal vengeance toward the president who had defeated me.

Although I despise them both, would it not be hypocritical to impeach this president when our guy was impeached for his awful treatment of this hallowed office only a few years ago? Can you really recommend impeachment when most Iraquis are free and seem to be coming around post surge? As a committed (no....not institutionalized :) ) liberal, I cannot wait for a change but how can one punish what, admittedly, is success? I feel anyone, regardless of political persuasion, should celebrate newfound freedom and the reduction of violence in the past year. We need to re-examine our approach here because most of us are denying reality by claiming :It's all about the oil". Its about freedom!Thats a far cry from "It's all about oral s@x!

Some posts have pointed to the Ford pardon of Nixon as establishing a bad precedent. But, at least Nixon had to endure the shame of resignation and possible impeachment and articles of impeachment were certainly alive in Congress. Neither Bush nor Cheney, for crimes against the nation's Constitution arguably even worse than Nixon, have yet to face even the indignity of a serious Congressional challenge.

Congress needs to start with Cheney. There is the most evidence available that directly implicates him in all kinds of wrongdoing.

If there is no action at all against this incompetent yet criminally greedy crew, then the precedent will have been set that the US president can get away with anything. The Constitution's separation of powers will be effectively dead for all time.

I totally agree, far past the time for impeachment, but this group won't let it happen or even think about it. There all so worried their sorry butts won't be re-elected. They all will be gone anyway, now that the public in general have decieded to take back our country.
Both of these slimbuckets need to be in prison for WAR Crimes and Crimes against humanity.
Too bad the Haige doesn't start a trial!

I say we WATERBOARD Bush and Cheney !

Forget about impeachment - it doesn't mean a thing.

Torture is not particularly complicated or mysterious.
Torture is a tool of the crudest kind of coercion, it crops up with great predictability whenever local despots or foreign occupiers lack consent needed to rule.

Torture is an indicator species of a regime that is engaged in a deeply anti-democratic project, even iif that regime happens to have come to power through elections.

Who knows better than Georgie and Dick !

Impeaching Bush and Cheney will help this country to get back democracy and the Constitution.
Impeachment will help republicans and democrats alike.
Americans should truely be tired of fear mongering tactics, and being called unpatriotic at every turn.
Impeachment will help Americans believe in their country again.
It's time to get democracy back.
It's time to read the Constitution and make it real again.

The numerous Impeachable crimes are as long as his Presidency.
Unfortunately their are members in Congress that continue to ride th egravey train. Others who 'don't want to put US through the process'
Frankly it has been our only course of action since he invaded Iraq (personall I feel Afghanistan)
Cowards & accomplices have infiltrated our Democracy- all should pay- by losing their positions, or their freedom.
We must send a clear messege to those culpable in the crimes andto the rest of the World this will not be tolerated and will be punishable.
TREASON,WAR CRIMES, CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY.
Impeachment should be the least of their concerns.Resignation may save them from the full extent of the law (but IMHO, I'm feeling about a generous as W. and death sentences in TX). A conviction for Treason may make others stop and think WHY they are in Public Service.

Once the motivations and the objectives of the current unitary executive were revealed, it was apparent that Republican Gerald Ford's pardon of Republican Richard M. Nixon's criminal behavior had a lasting legacy.

If we do not thoroughly investigate, indict, and impeach the principal actors in the current administration, (whether now, or at some point in the future) we are simply asking for more presidential tyranny.

I fear that if we do not impeach, or at the very least censure, we are setting a dangerous example for future Presidents - Republican or Democratic.

Nope - I think we'll just let some other country snatch he and Cheney off the street someday and haul them off to be prosecuted for war crimes, like the Germans, the Janpanese and Milosovek.

Can somebody tell the details of the DEAL to betray the American voters?

Kucinich? Wexler? Do you know the details of the DEAL? It's stopping your impeachment bill.

You don't have the 67 senate votes? ok. But you have plenty of democrats in the house to start the impeachment trials.

Instead of the Bush$Co playing chicken with Iran, smirking in your face, destroying evidence and ignoring your subpoenas, the president is constitutionally required to turn over documents in an impeachment trial.

The evidence will force the senate to convict.

After the failed Clinton impeachment the GOP still gained seats in the election.

Is there too much self incriminated evidence of democratic graft? Is congress so corrupt that everyone except a few "fools" like Kucinich are on the take? This is what many Americans are now considering.

Don't let the proof you should have impeached be WW III.
