The Defense Department's top watchdog has declined to investigate allegations that an American woman working under an Army contract in Iraq was raped by her co-workers.

The case of former Halliburton/KBR employee Jamie Leigh Jones gained national attention last month. An ABC News investigation revealed how an earlier investigation into Jones' alleged gang-rape in 2005 had not resulted in any prosecution, and that neither Jones nor Democratic and Republican lawmakers have been able to get answers from the Bush administration on the state of her case.

I wonder if HP will be reporting the rape and murder of Marine Cpl. Maria Frances by a Hispanic?

I doubt it...one the perp is Hispanic and that does not fit HP pro Illegal alien stance and two Backwater or Haliburton was not involved.

They have no time for this nonsence. They are busy trying to figure a way to start WW III as per cheney's instructions.

The people in the Pentagon are clearly corrupt and making efforts to make rape authorized by the government a non-crime. I'm really not surprised as the bush administration is a bad example of leadership. Their days are numbered, I hope this women can push this action as far as the supreme court if necessary. What a tragedy.

Why isn't this at the top of the front page Arianna?

As a woman this should outrage you completely. For some reason it's on the bottom of the right side of the page.

Something wrong here Arianna. You have a bully pulpit and you shouldn't be letting this drop by the wayside.

Shame on you.

Where are the wingnut CheneyCo apologists saying this commie bitch should be grateful she's an American and not a Saudi, because at least she didn't get sentenced to 200 lashes?

Right-wing America, where acting marginally better than the Islamofascists is more than good enough for the greatest country in the world.

I am utterly flabbergasted about the lack of public outcry from feminist groups or female politicians about this. Rape used to be a hot-button issue, but now it's ignored or downplayed. "Boys will be boys over at Halliburton," or "they're keeping us safe," or whatever, right Cheney?

It's funny that here is a woman who has truly been victimized, yet all the mainstream media can talk about is how Hillary was a victim. Isn't she running for president? Just what was the horrible brutalization of Clinton? You've got to feel terrible for Ms. Jones; she lives in a country that leaves her unsafe and without justice.
