Chris Matthews Barack Obama
On today's "Morning Joe" on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Willie Geist hosted Chris Matthews. As they discussed, and individually gushed over, Barack Obama's concession speech last night, Joe said, "If anybody in America has heard a better speech in modern American political history, please email me."

A visibly moved, sentimental Chris Matthews then chimed in with his account of an Obama speech he attended days before: "It was the best speech I've ever heard. ... And I'm tearing up, and I'm writing down notes, and I'm trying to keep track of this thing. ... His heart must've been broken last night." It appears Chris' was as well.

Sick and tired of the media covering the tv show rather than the election!

Chris Matthews: just another neo-con shill posing as a news person.
Too bad we don't have a free press in this country.

Chris Matthews really p.o'ed me back when he was so gushy for Bush and the NeoCons, but he appears to have turned over a new leaf politically, so I'm tuning him in again just to keep an eye on the spin. One positive with his show is his obvious LOVE of the political process which is downright infectious, and the undeniable fact that his show does not degenerate in the second half, as K.O's and Dan Abrams, into a tabloid expose'. I, for one appreciate that. I just think a news person should be transparent about their personal preferences politically, so that you know where they are really coming from. At least, Matthews is that.

Think of how good the speech would have been had Obama actually said something...

More evidence of how journalistically unprofessional Matthews is.

Good grief, his compulsive lashing out a H Clinton and adoring mush about Obama makes his the worst of the worst. I guess the lambasting Brokaw's, DeeDee Myers and Maddow's gave him the previous evening didn't sink in..... oh, that right ~ he never listens ~ takes in information because he's too busy thinking of what he wants to say next..... and I use the word "thinking" rashly as most of his talk doesn't seem to pass through his grey matter!

How I wish MSNBC would replace him with Maddow!

Pam Spaulding:

"I’m not sure that it applies here, given the complicating factor of gender bias, and what we can now call “The Tweety Effect,” where the misogyny of a talking head in the MSM so enrages a demographic that they go out and vote in a manner that will put egg on the face of the talking head. "

The greatest speech he's ever heard? Didn't Matthews hear MLK's "I have a dream" speech, or JFK's inaugural address, or Mario Cuomo's speech at the Democratic convention, or any of a hundred others that I know he's old enough to remember? I like Obama, but he must be Chris's latest man crush. It's enough to give one pause.

As Chris Matthews has gotten to be a bigger name and more of a “go to” guy at NBC, he has totally lost any hint of judgment and decorum (not that he had either in great quantities to begin with). Part of Matthews’ “appeal” is that he is an utterly loose cannon who might say or do anything at any moment. But, NBC must realize that folks watch the guy not for news value but for the “entertainment” value derived from anticipating a 20 car wreck in NASCAR. He has almost always proven himself to be an unprincipled hitman for the right (yeah, yeah… you people who think he is part of the “left wing/liberal” main stream media need to finally buy a clue…) and his unbridled sexism is legendary. HRC was right the other day… Matthews is “obsessed” with her and Clinton-bashing, in general. When will these people get over this and take something close to an objective look at the Clintons? Having a traditional media icon like Brokaw lash out at Matthews the other night for his utter hackery was WAY OVERDUE. Now, if only the suits at NBC/NBC News (and their counterparts in other “major” news organizations) would only declare that, from here on out, they would leave the sleaze to Drudge and Fox and return to the truly hard-hitting, but far more objective reportage of the bygone era, the American people might, once again, have a place to turn to inform their own decisions. Chris Matthews should be told he either shapes up or gets the hell out.

Joe Scarborough is a true Conservative but he loves America and when he sees a true leader in Obama, all barriers break down before him: there isn't a Liberal America, there isn't a Conservative America, there is the United States of America. Joe is a Patriot and he knows a star is rising in American History. Everyone who loves this country MUST get behind Joe. Kudos to Chris. He has had it with the low and dirty Clinton machine. The Clintons are racing to the bottom with Tom Delay in dirty politics, anything to win.

Look, Matthews is a Dem. That's what's so disturbing about his constant Hillary bashing. It's so blatant, and it's personal. He has been running his own campaign against her for so long, it's ridiculous. It smacks of revenge and/or chauvanism. Logically, he should like her, but he spends so much time attacking her inaccurately that it is obvious he has made it his mission to bring her down.
His bias is so irrational, it's practically impossible to watch him.
I've heard people speculate that he really likes her so much that he over compensates to mask his true feelings -to appear objective-or to impress other Nanderthals.
One thing's for sure. He's not as smart as either of the Clintons, and somewhere they showed him up and now he sees red every time he thinks about them, and every time they win.
He's just a blowhard.

"Chris Matthews: Obama's Speech Made Me Cry" well based on what all of the pundits have been saying, I am surprised Mathews didn't win in the New Hampshire election.

Relatively shallow stuff from Matthews.

Without Rove pulling the strings for the right wing attacks, this campaign season has been pretty civil so far. At least by comparison.
What we have had this time around reminds me of the way things were done a few decades ago, when the whole process of choosing a President was much less rude than it was in 2004 and 2008. I think that even if Rove were to jump back into the campaign with his patented dirty-tricks, we Americans are so fed up with neo-con lies and smears that we would be immune to them. At least I would like to think so.

Doesn't anyone remember how strong a George W. Bush supporter Matthews was and for an unbelivably long time? No matter what Bush did, Matthews reaction was, "I really like the guy!" And that was well AFTER Bush's insane invasion of Iraq and many other horrendous policy decisions and other disasters. He was one of the last pundits to stop defending Bush.

For someone who has been around Washington politics as long as Matthews has, he is either just plain stupid or unbelievably shallow. How do people like him keep their jobs?

So now he backs Obama. Well, he backed Bush and look where that got this country! Mathews has absolutely no credibility as far as I am concerned!
