Politico.com:

Culinary Workers Local 226, Nevada's largest and most politically active union, had hoped the New Hampshire primary would provide some clarity to its tortured presidential endorsement process. It didn't.

New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's victory over Illinois Sen. Barack Obama on Tuesday leaves officials of the union's international parent, Unite Here, with a tough choice: Endorse Clinton, the early front-runner and leader in Nevada, or Obama, whose Iowa victory propelled him to threaten Clinton in New Hampshire, a state she had figured she had locked up.

It's become a black/woman thing. If Obama doesn't cry, he will lose.

How can any union endorse Mr. Obama who thinks they shouldn't have a voice in our political process. In the Iowa campaign he referred to the union backers of John Edwards as "special interests". A corporation or industry is a special interest, a union is a different story. If he can't see that, well, folks, that's not a populist point of view. Also, unions should take a look at the multi-national corporations and Big Business interests that Obama has taken millions from. Do they seriously think that the money he's taken is going to take a back seat to an endorsement? Please! Why do progressives continue to vote against their own best interests?

Hillary and Obama got the same number of delegates. In a way this gives the message that the Democrats in NH love the old AND welcome the new. Is that so bad? Now if Hillary would run a less divisive campaign things would be jolly.

Any union should be a bit annoyed that in Iowa Obama criticized Edwards for accepting the support "special interests"--namely labor.

After equating labor with, say, oil company lobbyists, I think Obama should have some 'splainin' to do before any union endorses him. I like him; I didn't like seeing a Democrat attacking another for having union support. Seemed a dumb move to me.

So I guess what they're saying is that they have no real principle they're trying to endorse or uphold. They just want to be on the winning side.

Politico has a history of bad reporting. I'd wait to see what happens.

Too bad Raynor & Wilhelm lack the courage of their convictions...assuming they have any convictions to begin with! The choice today is the same as it was last week: Clinton or Obama. Edwards is roadkill. Unless they want the author of NAFTA moving back into the White House their only choice is to back Obama.
