Jon Stewart Reacts To Press Coverage Of Hillary's "Emotional Meltdown"
Last night on "The Daily Show," taped when everyone believed Barack Obama would handily win the New Hampshire primary and before pundits started dissecting whether Hillary's tears actually helped her win, Jon Stewart reacted to the media circus surrounding Hillary's "emotional breakdown."

"That's it? That's the emotional breakdown that blows the election for her? I'm glad no one here ever sees me get a flu shot," Stewart said.

LOVE LOVE LOVE Jon Stewart!!!!!

Concerning the Hillary's "meltdown" coverage,
to me the most negative surprise came from MSNBC.
They are no better than Fox Noise -minus- Keith.

Please understand that as much as we all like "The Daily Show" and Jon Stewart, posting these videos is the same as crossing the WGA Picket Line, and you seriously need to cut it out if you want to call yourselves "Progressive."

"Stop it, your hurting America." Jon Stewart

Stewart's genius is that he says what most of us think.

He hit the sweet spot with this bit.

So the rest of us mortals who tear up because of normal everyday stuff are truly "beneath" a politician? OK, but then what are we demanding, as a public. We want only unreal people?

And then we'll complain because they are unreal?

Schizophrenic thinking.

Cut the crap & admit that her Hillaryship is a most capable politician with a large & most loyal legion of supporters. She knows how to attract & keep supporters. You are on safer ground when questioning her opinions or what those who finance her expect & will get for their money. That may not stop her from being elected POTUS either but it might not bring Sen Clinton more supporters. One wonders if Eleanor Roosevelt might smile is she saw Sen Clinton develop from a governor's wife into being elected & re-elected to the Senate & serving in the Senate. Mrs Roosevelt was the first President's wife to make it into a successful career, a well loved activist, writer & American icon who continued to serve the world till she died. Her Hillaryship could best Mrs Roosevelt's many notable accomplishments yet. Remember Mrs Roosevelt also had many critics who hated her. It looks like nobody save Sen Clinton will ever end Sen Clinton's career as a public servant. She has earned my grudgingly given admiration & I'm not the only person who admires her. She appears to be seeking power. One must admit that she may & will continue any power she gets to serve her nation well. TIME will tell but NEWSWEEK will get the scoop.

There is a difference between faking emotion and deciding to let it come out.

The Rudy comment actually made sense if you put it in context.

he was saying that it was okay for politicians to cry. In fact, Jessie Jackson Jr. said the same thing.

Hillary was supposed to win for every poll except for two days before the vote when the sweeping change of opinion they predicted didn't happen. Was the Iowa vote supposed to change the minds of New Hampshire? Fat chance, historically it is just the opposite which is true. The story is not that Clinton won as much as she didn't lose. Move on and vote for somebody more deserving like John McCain.

I think a lot of folks feel the same as I do. I don't like her. Another poster called her a "strident phony", and that's exactly the feeling I get when I hear her speak. I don't find anything genuine about her. She hasn't got her husband's charisma. Whatever else you say about Bill Clinton, that man connects with people in a way his wife can't. I know the jokes are coming, but there's no denying the way voters respond to him. Without Bill, she'd have gone down in flames a long time ago.

Yes I think we would all like to see a woman president, but not the american version of Margaret Thatcher.

While I agree with Mr. Stewart's comments, I believe Rachel Maddow of Air America Radio, both on her own radio show and in the "dolled-up" version of herself on MSNBC, has given the best analysis of this non-story and the subsequent media pile-on. Perhaps because even though Ms. Maddow may not face the same rabid hostility as Senator Clinton, she is subjected to the same indignations all women face when they come under the scrutiny of the public eye through the lense of the corporate media, as evidenced by my comment about her being "dolled-up" for TV. Everyone has to wear make-up to look "natural" on TV, I will accept that twist of logic, but to the best of my knowledge Rachel Maddow doesn't wear make-up in her everyday life, so why can't they use the same crappy pallet of colors they use for the men instead of all the rouge and frosted pink lipstick?

I do believe that Senator Clinton was unfairly attacked by the media with regard to the fact that her voice actually wavered slightly for a few seconds and the fact that she is a woman has made her vulnerable to such attacks. However, I believe the fact that she is female is only part of the reason for the overreaction by the mainstream media. The fact that she is a Clinton is the overriding factor here. Whether or not you believe in the "vast right-wing conspiracy" (which the First Lady was mercilessly mocked for saying but was proven to have existed) or you want call it the media giving the public what it wants; it is clear that everything the Clintons do or say is picked apart and blown out of proportion by FOX News and other Republican water bearers such as Limbaugh and Drudge, then picked up and run with by the rest of the corporate media because it is much easier to parrot Republican talking points and cocktail party gossip than to practice real journalism, which is apparently so darn hard and time consuming.

Face it if Hillary wasn't a woman we'd be talking about her "joe-mentum" right now.

BTW I'm not insulting Hillary supporters when I say they fell for her schtick. They are insulting themselves by falling for her schtick.

She's put all questioning of her actual record out of bounds by making her campaign about emotion. but if you question the sincerity of the emotion you're being mean, or sexist, or even misogynistic. So Hillary has taken ALL substance out of this race.

The truly hilarious that Jon failed to juxtapose was Bill Clinton's teary oneupmanship "I knew Hillary could do it,(tear) I am sooooooooo
proud of her(tear, tear) I have so much respect for her. (wipe away a big fat wet tear)
turning around and Mugging for the camera and that Hillary is how you make not one but a river of crocodile tears.
I am so still gonna be THE first Mister,
Not (A)First Mister. But I can turn it on like a mister, mister.

She typifies much of whats wrong with the USA politics today. She and Bill are two bookends that lack self knowledge and are in truth self centered narcicists. They are very intelligent, capable and accomplished professionals but these "gifts" they have are used in self service not public service. This discordance between outward and inward make up as its uncovered will and has led to an increased cynicicm and anger of the voter. We need politicians who run for office because theywant to get things done rather than get the "credit" for getting things done.A great man (or women) at core runs to "serve" rather than to "be served". This is the difference between a Reagan or a Clinton.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Is right! That's no emotional breakdown. And Hillary won New Hampshire by 2 percentage points. WOW! I hope people see through her phoney tears. And phoney laughs. All she is to me? Another puppet for the wealthy.

Come on Jon...it was HillBilly Show at its best! What a plan...Hill does the almost tears with her mike positioned just right so she is heard. Then shortly after Bill does his "Fairy Tale" speech. Then the Clinton campaign leaks to the press that $$$s a drying up and people may be leaving.....all this done less than 24 hours before the polls open...BUT, in time to hit the local and 24/7 news. Yessir, the HillBilly Show did a "gotcha" ;)

My dream team for this country would be Hillary as President and John Edwards as VP. I like Barak, but he seems so young and inexperieced, though he might have my vote in 12 years, he just isn't experienced enough for right now. I haven't heard what he will do as President, just lots of sound bites said with enthusiasm and a big goofy smile which isn't enough for me to take him seriously. Hillary is ready right now, which is just what we need! She has been groomed for this job all of her life, and her first man wuld be one hell of an adviser to her an us. Look at the BIG picture. We need someone who can clean up after Bush and see how bad he has screwed the country, we don't have time for someone to get their feet wet or cut their baby teeth.

It is absurd the line that if a man is against Hillary it has to do with him being scared of Mommy or something stupid like that. Elanor Roosevelt would have made a great president. I would vote for Feinstein for president. The problem is Hillary herself, NOT that she is a woman. It is just that she totally rubs me the wrong way and I don't like her politics (e.g. she was on the board of Walmart, she supported the fuckedup bankruptcy bill, etc.). I detest her as a person, the same way I detest a man like Rudy. She just comes off as a strident phony. And a big thing too is that people who worked in the White House said she was an asshole in the way she treated people. So she is arrogant. I detest arrogant people, and I do not want her mug in my house every day.
