Karl Rove Op-Ed: "Why Hillary Won"

From Karl Rove's op-ed today in the Wall Street Journal:

Mrs. Clinton won a narrow victory in New Hampshire for four reasons. First, her campaign made a smart decision at its start to target women Democrats, especially single women. It has been made part of the warp and woof of her campaign everywhere. This focus didn't pay off in Iowa, but it did in New Hampshire.

Second, she had two powerful personal moments. The first came in the ABC debate on Saturday, when WMUR TV's Scott Spradling asked why voters were "hesitating on the likeability issue, where they seem to like Barack Obama more." Mrs. Clinton's self-deprecating response -- "Well, that hurts my feelings" -- was followed by a playful "But I'll try to go on."

You couldn't help but smile. It reminded Democrats what they occasionally like about her. Then Mr. Obama followed with a needless and dismissive, "You're likable enough, Hillary."

Her remarks helped wash away the memory of her angry replies to attacks at the debate's start. His trash talking was an unattractive carryover from his days playing pickup basketball at Harvard, and capped a mediocre night.

The other personal moment came on Monday, when a woman in Portsmouth asked her "how do you do it?" Mrs. Clinton's emotional reply was powerful and warm. Voters rarely see her in such a spontaneous moment. It was humanizing and appealing. And unlike her often contrived and calculated attempts to appear down-to-earth, this was real.

Third, the Clintons began -- at first not very artfully -- to raise questions about the fitness for the Oval Office of a first-term senator with no real accomplishments or experience. [...]

The fourth and biggest reason why Mrs. Clinton won two nights ago is that, while Mr. Obama can draw on the deep doubts of many Democrats about Mrs. Clinton, he can't close out the argument. Mr. Obama is an inspiring figure playing a historical role, but that's not enough to push aside the former First Lady and senator from New York. She's an historic figure, too. When it comes to making the case against Mrs. Clinton, Mr. Obama comes across as a vitamin-starved Adlai Stevenson. His rhetoric, while eloquent and moving at times, has been too often light as air.

WHY, in the name of all that is holy on this planet, are we paying any attention to anything Karl "fuck off" Rove has to say? Anytime we pay him any mind, he gets paid. Besides: we already know what the fuck his opinion is, and should NOT give one tenth of one shit. I don't want to see or hear anything about anything about him until thye reports of his SUICIDE. If he were any kind of a man, he would blow his own brains out in public. He would. Besides: he is an asshole, and a dirty, old, wet, discontinant one at that, eh.

Karl Rove Playbook.

His editorial in the WSJ is condescending and bigoted.

Rove said:
"He is often lazy, given to misstatements and exaggerations and, when he doesn't know the answer, too ready to try to bluff his way through."

Mr. Rove forgot to add that he likes to lounge around in a field eating watermelon all day.

This editorial is downright racist.

I guess its time to expose and disarm what Rove and the swiftboaters will soon be doing as he gets closer to securing the nomination.

Barack Obama = Osama Bin Laden

Barack Obama is a; Jungle Bunny, Spear Chucker, Coon, Nigger, Jiggaboo, Tar Baby, Sambo, Spade, Mau Mau, Darkie, (and Harvard Intellectual.)

There, we have it out in the open and I must declare that I too am Spartacus.

Or in other words, this White Italian, Guinea, Wop, Greaseball, Dago is also a Nigger as are we all.

Unless you believe in intelligent design the way Mike Huckabee does, we humans are all related to one another.

Occupying various parts of the planet and physically adapting to diverse climates and environmental conditions we developed different appearances.

But underneath the superficial skin color we all have basically the same DNA, except of course for Republicans, they are a completely different species, they are missing a heart and a conscience.

Obama you make me proud to be an American again.

if you peruse (sp?) the rove piece,
a couple things come immediately to mind:

"smelly" is used up front - hoping to play
of his (obama's wife's) admission that they
called him "smelly" or something like that.
let that viscerally sit - do you want a "smelly" president? totally calculated.

another calculated point -
no reference to John Edwards.
"let's pretend he's not viable."
republicans hope and pray.

he will hand them their free lunch.

I read the whole article, his analysis about Hillary`s NH win was correct to the dot, It does not give me any pleasure to agree with Rove and I would not have read it in WSJ, if it was not featured in this post !
Then, at the end he was trashing Obama a little too much , that would raise anyone`s suspision !
Hillary/Obama `08

It's important to read Rove's take on New Hampshire because it is the preview of things to come. It looks like pundits on the right are going to do their best to boost Clinton with this kind of disingenuous sweet talk: "She had two powerful personal moments"—does anyone really think this is how Karl Rove perceives Hillary Clinton? I certainly don't.

Second, conservative analysis is going to be infused with negative racial stereotypes such as "trash talking" and "pickup basketball" to give the subliminal message that voting for Barack Obama is the same as voting for P. Diddy. I'm sure the hip hop references are not far behind.

People like Karl Rove have been using insults and lies all their lives to influence good people—people who don't have this kind of nastiness in their souls. Rove can be charming, just like Tony Soprano.

We need to know what's brewing in that bald head. So we can deal with it.

The man is something of a psychopath (not all psychopaths kill people, the key is that they are manipulative, totally self-serving, and it is always about the ends justifying the means). That being said he is quite fascinating and always interesting to hear the opinion of, you just have to read him through a filter. He will be truthful when it serves him or he figures he does not need to lie. He does make some good points here.

Rove shouldn't give analysis; he should undergo analysis.

Bush's brain-drain, Rove, can single-handedly be credited with plumbing the "giant sucking-sound" of the GOP going down. He is an ersatz Iago to Shakespeare's Othello -- "not purely evil, but complexly amoral, incapable of ordinary moral judgments" and therefore not only Bush's worst possible advisor, but the Democratic Party's.

He proves what every psychiatrist knows: one cannot sustain indefinitely an alternate reality (lies); collapse is inevitable; reality will, however eventually and always painfully, reassert itself and have its day -- see the post-Rovian field of Republican candidates and the permanent Republican majority they hoped to lead -- it's no field of dreams.

Only a sick mind would aim to lockdown American politics in a permanent uncivil war. Obama is the President who will end it -- and the other ongoing wars Rove abetted.

Rove screws up Descartes' "Cogito, ergo sum," mistranslating it as, "I think it, therefore it is." (Analyst, anybody?!)

I am a woman and I happen to be a post grad engineer who has traveled the world and I see the same dynastic implications of having another clinton in the WH...This has not happened in even the newer democracies of the world ...it's as if we are wallowing and stuck in a nostalgic time warp...Open your minds, look around you and vote...She is not the best of the candidates in the fray by far...if you look at their policies, each of them has the same stand on many issues..In fact Obama and edwards's stands on issues are statistically 93% similar. Please let us ..no allow us to progress. otherwise mark my words, another bush(jeb, dubya's bro) will follow the other clinton..it reeks with putrid stench and you are holding everything back.Let 's embrace some hope and optimism which is lacking in this country people....let this not be a token vote!

As is the usual fare from this roach, he is spinning again. The biggest reason for her victory was the anti-Matthews backlash. The GOP knows full well that they have attacked her savagely for more than a decade and they have very little else to add whereas Obama is red meat for the slime attacks that are sure to come in the general election.
Just like the 2004 Congressional elections, Rove is wrong and his natural instincts to go after Hillary will backfire this time. He just can't help himself. All hail, Hillary.
