Rachel Bilson's Nude Avoidance And Film Losses

Rachel Bilson almost didn't appear in The Last Kiss because she won't do nudity, the actress reveals in Playboy.

"Movies can be sexy or sexual without showing things," the former O.C. star, 26, said in the issue out Friday. "It's almost a deal breaker. The movie was rated R, and they like to put in nudity wherever they can, but I'm pretty strong willed and believe it can be avoided."

The other thing Bilson won't do is talk about her relationship with Hayden Christensen, even though the two have been spotted together around Los Angeles for almost a year. She will, however, defend his acting chops. "He's an amazing guy and a fantastic actor," she told Playboy. "In those Star Wars movies I thought other people - people who are successful and Oscar-nominated - came off looking much worse than he did. But he caught a lot of s---, which really made me mad."

Some of the posters here got to get a grip. If she doesn't want to do nudity, that's her right just as it is the right of the studios to find someone else. She is not the only one to make such stipulations and Hollywood has room for a multitude of actors and actresses of various beliefs and persuasions. I see no hypocrisy in her stance so... grow-up people.

Frankly, I don't give a hoot. Truth be known, I've never heard of her before and I suspect this is likely the last time I'll see she her name in print (her decision regarding limiting the roles she'll take will probably be the cause.)

If you're that modest, you should not be an actor. It's stupid to call yourself an actor and then get prissy about nudity. Your body is your only instrument.

I admire actors like Julianne Moore. She does exactly what the role calls for, and isn't silly about it.

Nudity is just one aspect of acting, and you are called on to be naked or partially naked at times. If you can't deal with that, be a donut maker or a shoe salesman.

Good for her. There are so few actresses out there unwilling to do nudity no matter what. I'm sure there are others, but the only one I know of besides now Ms. Bilson is Kate Mulgrew.
