Black Voters

The State:

Sharp criticism of Barack Obama and other comments about Martin Luther King Jr. -- all from people associated with Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign -- have generated resentment among some black S.C. voters.

The furor comes just two weeks before those voters will have a significant say in who wins the Jan. 26 primary here.

This clearly shows that the media has nothing else to report. Sad sad day when the media and the Obama campaign try to stroke the flames of racism in America. What the hell kind of change is that?

Amazing! The US taxpayer gets the bill for those who took out mortgages that they can't pay.

It's a shame we create innuendoes just to distract and divert people from the real issues. Obama has the right to run for any office, but he is not a "Sacred Cow." Look at a scenario where he wins the nomination and the Republicans start throwing their dirt, do you think they will relent in what they pull? Look at how they derailed Rep. Harold Ford's almost won bid for the Senate. I feel bad for the Democrats for they are about to hand an easy win to any Republican candidate with Obama on their ticket.

I thought it was offensive that Obama compared himself to MLK.

I personally thought that Hillary's original remarks were intended to counter that arrogant and disrespectful remark of his.

Racist? I say he was a great deal less respectful than Hillary was in her remarks.

As for Bill's remark? I think it's disrespectful to African Americans to pretend not to know that he was talking about Obama's lie about being against the war.

That's manipulating people's emotions. It's slimy politics. And that came from the African American legislator in South Carolina.

He's not a stupid man. He knew full well what Bill meant. And he deliberately stirred the racial pot.

This is going to backfire. I do NOT believe African American voters are stupid, uninformed and can't see exactly what's going on for themselves.

I predict this won't play.

Finally, the past Clinton administration has a strong record for civil rights, and Hillary is right. That IS what matters in terms of getting real legislation passed and implemented.

White, black, red or whatever....until someone rolls up their sleeves and gets it through, nothing changes.

And I am darn certain that voters in the South know exactly what's what and who really gets the job done.

So, are we to have affirmative action democracy for the second black president? This is emotional blackmail at its worst.

I can imagine the pain, given that the spin on these remarks was so very slanted. However, it's clear to me that the Obama campaign has quite a large part of responsibility for this.

More to the point, I fear this election will cause pain to many African American voters.

They weren't ready?

Women have been hardened by anti-feminist rhetoric, so it tends to bounce off rather than cause pain.

This article "Why Obamamania? Because He Runs as The Great White Hope." best describes my impression about this campaign:

African Americans are divided over Obama - which is good. If they vote 90% for him, then Whites can cry racism. If they vote who they think will be the best President, and that vote is divided among Democrats, then so what.

Those who cry racism are trying to swing votes against the Clintons who have a earned reputation of doing good and associating with African Americans both in Arkansas, throughout the Whitehouse years, and in New York. Remember Bill has his Presidential Office in Harlem. He likes it there.

Obama is culturally white, as that is how he was raised by his white grandparents. He doesn't have to carry the burdens of most African Americans, but does understand "White guilt" and how to manipulate it.

I suspect most African Americans will use thier heads to sort this out and vote their conscience.

Maybe if Barry starts a-weepin' it will help.

But you gotta love a guy who "recycles" the Alcoa aluminum can slogan from 1970 and sells it as new to a new bunch of idiots.

"Yes We Can!"

THERE'S NO PLAYING THE RACE OR GENDER CARD IN PRESIDENTIAL POLITICS.

IF A CANDIDATE CAN'T HANDLE THE MUDSLINGING OF THE CAMPAIGN,

THEN THEY'RE NOT FIT TO BE PRESIDENT!

It has been touted that Mc.Cain is likely to give a likelier and stronger run against Clinton than Obama...He is also likelier to win again Clinton with most if not all the independents vouching for him rather than Clinton. His base amongst and ties to the Hispanic community is stronger than Hillary 'LBJ' Clinton

Divide and conquer the electorate, that 's the only thing the Clinton can do...
It 's disgusting ,....JUST ANYTHING FOR POWER.....It turns me off and I am not going to vote if she is in the fray in the end.
She is even for disenfranchisement of voters for the sake of few votes!!

Hillary is not an agent of change. She is the status quo. Wake your zombie asses up and take a look around.

I would classify betrayal as voting for an aggressive war against a sovereign nation. I would classify betrayal as voting to suspend habeas corpus. I would classify betrayal as falling lockstep with Bushco on the policies that take away freedom and kill American soldiers.

Hillary supporters must be the most naive voting block anywhere. Who's been suckered dude?
