What interesting is watching Middle East News on Link TV and seeing what the people who we invaded and the surrounding countries actually say about what is going on. A lot different than what we are allowed to be told in US media , thats for sure.

The odds are that she will be as successful as on all previous ocassions. My guess is she is getting in as many vacations as possible before the end and getting out of Washington as much as possible. After all, Iraq is a far more pleasant place to visit than her home town of Birmingham.

That's great. I cannot think of a better way to reignite the Iraqi Civil War than to have Condi pushing for peace...

And to think I doubted her based on her record of getting squat done as S.O.S.

I feel SO much better knowing she's attempting to convince warring factions in Iraqi government to get along. That, and moving the govt into order, reconcilliation and peace.

I can see the bright flower of freedom blooming!

Oh. Wait.

It's about damn time the State Department got involved in Iraq. They should have been in Iraq the day after the Bush Occupation began instead of keeping our soldiers there as targets.

"Please Mr. Maleki, my boss couldn't give a flying rat's behind about you and your people, or peace in the middle east. But he sure does give a rat's ass about not being the most reviled president in American history, and the most hated man in the world. And he doesn't have much time left to change his legacy. Won't you send him a gift by pretending to make peace with those Sunnis you intend to kill after we leave Iraq?"

There of course is no scientific evidence that the "surge" worked. You would have to do the "experiment" 20 times to reach that conclusion. The "surge" began in Feb 07 and violence began to reduce in Sept 07, right when Al Sadr declared a truce in the civil war. Therefore it is much much more likely that this truce is responsible for the reduced violence, not the "surge" As violence begets more violence, less violence begets less violence.

Let's see - today's Times had an Iraqi security guy addressing the Pentagon and asking for a US presence until 2018! What a fucking joke. Why don't we just drop the fucking Treasury Department on them and get it over with.

The "unmet surge goals" will haunt America for years to come. Has there ever been an administration with such a high percentage of underachievers than this one? This cannot be bad luck alone.

Incompetence and greed, combined with stupidity and arrogance have turned a wealthy country like the USA into a divided nation, with a foolishly spent treasury and almost isolation from the rest of the world.

I do hope these next months will pass without any major setbacks, so you can start all over with brighter personnel at the top.

The Iraq government has, obviously, learned a great deal from the Bush Administration of how to run a corrupt government with an uncompromising attitude.
