Mitt Romney Speech

New York Times:

Usually, on election nights, protocol dictates that losers get to give their concession speeches, and have their say, before the winners.

But on Tuesday night, soon after Senator John McCain took the stage here and began to give his concession speech here, Mitt Romney took the stage to give his victory speech in Michigan - drawing television coverage from his rival.

For God's sake, Mitt, get the dog off the roof of the car, let him slobber all over your face and dig his paws into your crotch on the way to the open window.

Loosen up a little.

We must hope that Romney is the Republican nominee. He would be the easiest to beat. His religion would cause a significant number of Republican voters to sit on their hands instead of voting.

The winner of the general election could then give Mitt a little payback by cutting off his concession speech.

Here is the guy who has turned 180 degress from who he was as the Governor of Massachusetts. For example, did this guy really roll out of bed one morning and exclaim, "Hey, I'm not in favor of abortion...I'm pro-life!" Or more recently his bashing McCain for the latter's (courageous and absolutely correct) vote against Bush's excessive and undeserved tax cuts for the wealthy, in effect pandering to the Plutocrats and their Dupes by posturing as Reagan reborn (which ought to serve emphatic warning for struggling, average middle and lower-middle income Americans what's in store for them) and will continue Bush's giveaway orgy for the superrich by distributing the wealth of the country from the bottom to the top.

Well at least he hasn't used the ridiculous explanation of his father years ago when, as a candidate for the presidential nomination, he was asked about his changed opinion (read: flip-flop) on the Viet Nam war. Old dad said that he had been "brainwashed" into his earlier position on the war. This finished him.

McCain made the mistake of telling the truth.

Understandably; there is no way a Republican candidate would be willing to promise to undo the trade and tax policy changes that led to the economic damage that Michigan has suffered. Too many of America's wealthy and its corporations would jump right down his throat.

Romney, on the other hand, managed to blow a glowing, iridescent soap bubble for the people of Michigan - pretty as the dickens, but empty. I mean really - no trade or tax policy changes, but attack the CAFE standards?

How is removing or reducing America's fuel economy requirements going to slow down domestic or overseas demand for oil, or increase oil production, or control the oil companies' and traders' lust for profits, or bring stability to the Middle East?

That is what has to happen to reduce the all-important price of gas, because the cost of their operation is what spells doom for the SUVs and the other oil-burners with the larger profit margins that the auto industry execs crave.

Romney has a future if Broadway should revive "The Wizard of Oz" - he's a natural for the man behind the curtain.

“Perhaps it was an accident,’’ said a senior McCain adviser, “but if it wasn’t, it was classless.”

Nothing with Mittens is an accident (except one waiting to happen). Classless doesn't even begin to describe it.

I am sure he also gave his pathetic medal count.

Make no mistake about it, Romney is the candidate who will be the most like Bush. If you Obama supporters aren't carefull about bashing Hillary so much, you will get your worst dream. And it won't be Hillary.
