Last night on his show, Glenn Beck — still riled up over his ass surgery gone awry — unleashed his anger on our 32nd president. Hosting the Wall Street Journal's Stephen Moore, Beck went on a rant about Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who he called "one evil son of a bitch." According to Beck, FDR's misdeeds include nationalizing "health care, energy, and everything else" and making the depression "go on and on and on for a decade."

The Rethug machine , trying to rewrite history , again.

The "evil son-of-a-bitch" honor , among Presidents, actually goes to Reagan -- Reagan , the one that did more to "divide" America than anyone since Jefferson Davis and set the stage for the culture of corruption that is bringing us all down, to this day.

The "evil son-of-a-bitch" , Beck , can't handle it that the "GREATEST" President in our history was , in fact , FDR !!!

Were it not for him , despite the Rethug 'isolationist' policies of the time , kicked the ass of Tojo and Hitler , at the same time --and-- for good measure , put an end to the Republican created , 'Depression'.

The only Republican President that was worth a damn was Theodore Roosevelt with his 'environmental' policies and his efforts at controlling the , all to powerful , corporate sector. Funny , the Neocons of our time wouldn't give Teddy's policies the time-of-day in these times (shows how far they've gone astray).

You better thank your God , that FDR was there at the right time to save us all or you'd be speaking German and/or Japanese right now (if you were alive , at all).

Yes, Glenn, FDR was 1 evil son of a bitch to his opponents, foreign & domestic. Ask the ghosts of John L Lewis, Hitler, Father Coughlin, Sen Bilbo, Franco. FDR was sneaky & a BS artist too. That is how he got elected to be POTUS 4 times. FDR was devious too; ask the ghost of J Edgar Hoover about that. FDR kept Hoover on a tight leash & muzzled him from time to time.

FDR saved capitalism from itself. If he had not been elected, the US might very well have been unable to help England and the Russian's fight off the Germans. Democracy would have been dead.

In addition, his public works projects of the 30's built the great dams across the west, and in the Tennesee Valley, putting in place the hydroelectic generators that helped the US defeat the German's and Japanese, and allowed Oak Ridge and Los Alamos to develop the Atomic bomb.

FDR saved the planet for the Me generation to bask in its greedy ways, and unfortunately, to help spawn little twirps like Beck, and assholes like Limpballs and Insanity, to tear down the very fabric that gave birth to their smuggness.

I knew a guy once who was an addict and an alcoholic. He'd been clean for a couple of years, and had really turned his life around. Had the live-in girlfriend, a steady job, a nice place to live, a few dollars in the bank, friends. He'd re-established a relationship with his family.

And he to have some minor surgical procedure. I don't even remember what. But it did involve putting him out, and cutting him open. And pain medication while he was in the hospital, and then some to go. He had it all set up so someone else would keep control of the drugs, don't let him have them unless it was really bad.

But the fact is that within days of him being released from the hospital he disappeared, back hanging out with the pimps and hos in some welfare hotel, shooting up, being crazy. Just that brief exposure to drugs sent him over the edge.

Then he got clean again, which was good because he was basically a nice guy.

Glenn Beck, on the other hand, is not.

Poor Glen Beck. In lacking the fan base and sinister gravitas of a BillO, he is forced to carve out his niche with manic, unhinged outbursts of historical revisionism.

For Glen Beck to say such ridiculous things about FDR is a testament to his ignorance of history. FDR can certainly be held responsible for certain things (Internment of Japanese-Americans, refusal to integrate the military, attempt to pack the Supreme Court, and refusal to provide a haven for some of the victims of the Holocaust)- but there is no doubt that the New Deal literally SAVED this country. FDR's economic policies and reforms not only rescued the farmers and factory workers, they also saved numerous American corporations from ruin (a point many conservatives like Beck ignore these days).

Like I said before: the more outrageous the comment, the more the coverage. Get it? The trick is don't play along, instead just switch the channel.

This has generated a huge response, but I cannot resist adding one more. This ignorance is not entertainment, and it is not news. I am simply sick of ignorance being presented as the legitimate alternative to knowledge. This is white male brain farting at its worst!

I've got a great idea I'd like to pitch to Fox. How about spinning off a new channel called "the WC" (for "The Wacko Channel")?

Glenn Beck would have his own daily show, as would "Falafel Bill" O'Reilly. Rush Limbaugh could stage his triumphant return to television, presumably post-drugs, with his own daily variety show, featuring surprise guests with that unique brand of racial/ethnic humor we've all come to love and expect.

There would be no shortage of new talent, either: Ron Paul could move directly from the campaign bus to the TV studio. Michael Medved and Laura Ingraham could finally graduate from smug rightwing radio personalities to big league crazies. Ann Coulter could try her hand at a talk show of her own (after cosmetic surgery to reduce the size of her adam's apple, of course). Bibs would be passed out to hosts and guests alike; foaming at the mouth would be heartily encouraged.

God forbid a Fox program should be accused of being unfair or unbalanced, so let's expand beyond the Republican demographic a bit and pull Ross Perot and Lyndon LaRouche out of retirement. We can even get Mike Gravel to be the Alan Colmes of the new network. (Think "word in edgewise.")

Did I mention Sundays? On the WC, the Sabbath will *ROCK* with the likes of Pat Robertson, Ralph Reed, the Dr. James Dobson "Focus on the Family" Hour, and much, much more. We can even throw in an occasional Walker Texas Ranger retrospective, with critics discussing how much better the show was before "that black guy" became a regular.

We can even retool some old shows from the 1960s. How about "Uber-American Sportsman", where each week a different GOP personality would be invited to go duck hunting with Dick Cheney? I'd personally like to pencil in Tom Delay, Larry Craig and Trent Lott for the first three shows, assuming they're willing.

One more point about FDR and the New Deal. The day FDR took office chronic unemployment was about 25%. Maybe even higher. That's huge by US standards. Moreover, by (I believe) 1938 chronic unemployment was down to 15%. That's still high by today's standards, but significantly less high when FDR took office. Many of those people were employed by the United States. They received their paychecks through revenue generated through taxes. And the people employed by the United States contribute much to society with their efforts. For example, they made many wonderful and lasting public goods, including the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas.

Why is it that Canada's health care spending is 6% less of their GDP than ours is? Yes that evil SOB FDR, how dare he save America and for getting us out the great depression and steering us through WWII. Maybe if a good conservative was president, we would have joined Germany and ruled the world.

Beck would most certainly consider the arch-conservative, mega-businessmen that attempted to overthrow FDR in 1934 as heroes. This was investigated by the House UnAmerican Activities Committee. (See Smedly Butler & also "The Plot to Steal the the Whitehoue" -Jules Archer 1966). The DuPont, Pew, Melon, Knudsen, etc. were the individuals and families involved. This event is almost unknown.
