Joe Lieberman As McCain's Vice President?

Wall Street Journal   |  Alex Frangos   |   January 17, 2008 11:13 AM

stumbleupon :Joe Lieberman As McCain's Vice President?   digg: Joe Lieberman As McCain's Vice President?   reddit: Joe Lieberman As McCain's Vice President?   del.icio.us: Joe Lieberman As McCain's Vice President?

There's been plenty of speculation since self-described Democratic-independent Sen. Joe Lieberman started stumping for Sen. John McCain in December that Al Gore's 2000 runningmate might reprise that role for his Republican friend.

McCain did little to dissuade Washington Wire of that notion. The Arizona senator was speaking Wednesday evening at town hall-style meeting at T-Bones Steakhouse and Saloon in Lake Wylie, S.C. (Atmosphere: various taxidermied critters on the wall, including a skunk.)

The Huckabee/ Lieberman Republican ticket seems much more attractive as we head toward the Rapture.

Why not just choose Ehmer Olmert and cut out the middleman?

If they add Lieberman to the ticket they'll have to build a nursing wing onto the White House.

The Dems and the repubs are the same, so if really doesn't matter between the two unless it was Kucinich, Gravel or Paul.

Lieberman shouldn't jump at the first Republican offer. I think Huckabee / Lieberman would be a more powerful Republican statement.

The way Obama's been coming across lately, with his quizical Reagan adulation and impotent prescriptions for recession relief, maybe Lieberman should be HIS Vice President.

I like it. Lieberman / McCain is a strong Republican ticket.

No. His VP will be Lindsey Graham. He follows McCain around like a trained monkey.

Please, please, please...

I dare not even dream it, mostly because it's a supremely stupid idea...it would make 08 a lot more fun, though.

No it will be Jeb Bush. Then the Republicans won't have to worry about McCain's health, they will have Jeb all ready to go.

Given that Joe Lieberman has dual citizenship, would you vote for that ticket?

4 Reasons Why Lieberman Should be McCain's running mate: Mitt Romney, Rudy Guiliani, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul. It's scary to contemplate but John McCain is the least worst Republican candidate running for President. I'm not sure what happened to his brain these last two years. He used to be an almost decent politician, as much as a Republican can be nowadays. On the face it Lieberman as a potential running mate seems absurd. Well, it is absurd, but then you look at who McCain could pick as a running mate. *shudder*

Lieberman is a supreme asshole.
McCain is a lunatic, no matter who he might chose as running-mate if he wins the nomination as fascist party leader.

More interesting and less clear is the relationship between Obama and Lieberman. There are highly critical articles online which claim that Lieberman is Obama's mentor.
And there are articles from Obama defenders who deny it.

This one takes a more balanced view.....

Well, John is my first choice in response to a Billary nominee on the democratic side but with Joe on his ticket I will happily vote Bloomberg. I cannot vote for anyone who tries to circumvent the democratic process and nullify or suppress votes in any way. Joe was a registered democrat and lost his reelection bid to Lamont, so he switched parties to nullify the results of the voters for a party he represented for decades. Hillary has already begun her electronic vote tampering in NH and followed that with trying to suppress votes in Nevada because she EXPECTS that a segment of voters will not vote for her. I don't want any more anti-democracy presidents in the whitehouse.
