Tribune Honeymoon

Forbes:

In the weeks since Sam Zell led a buyout of Tribune, the real estate mogul has been meeting with some of his wary new employees, reportedly making a good first impression during visits to the newsrooms of the Chicago Tribune and Newsday.

But departing Los Angeles Times Editor James O'Shea's blistering attack Monday on Tribune's spending priorities served as a blunt reminder, if any were needed, that Zell's charismatic presence at the helm won't magically wave away the severe financial challenges faced by his newly acquired newspapers.

Good.

The sooner he rips apart the Tribune Company and throws its pieces to the wind, the better off the country will be.

Any organization with a flagship paper that endorsed Bush twice and is still itching for War with Iran deserves what it gets.

(Can't wait for the same thing to happen to the Fox Empire, and it will once Rupert is out of the picture.)

Look! nobody gives a shit what he does with
the antiquated newspaper business,
all we want to know is what the hell is going on with the Cubs?

A non-stop money maker that baseball fans love to death. Shore up that pitching staff and lets win the World series God dammit.

How many nail-in-the-coffin events can the LAT endure before fading away entirely??? Zell apparently won't be the panacea we've been looking for here in LA, and I will still be reading the LA Weekly for local independent reporting.

Apparently, these budget cuts won't be affecting the LAT's Spears/Lohan coverage, as evidenced by the daily "articles" in the online Calendar section.

All the Zell bashing is erased? Is this a PR piece for Zell?
