Michelle Obama countered increasingly fierce criticism from Hillary Clinton's campaign on Wednesday in an impassioned speech at a Greenville restaurant, defending Barack Obama's votes in the Illinois Senate, his experience and his ability to stand tough to Republicans.

"The one thing that is clear is that when power is confronted with real change, they will say anything," she said.

She also told nearly 100 local women at The Lazy Goat that when it comes to the difficulties they face balancing work and family, her husband is "one of the few people who gets it," in part because of her own dilemmas as a "regular person."

Barrack & Michelle are everything the Clintons are not- inspirational, elegant, unifying, honest, and a much needed breath of fresh air. How anyone could possibly prefer to return the most polarizing, cynical, manipulative couple in American political history to the White House is utterly astonishing. Twenty years of the Bush/Clinton regimes are more than enough. Give America the opportunity to chart a new course that will unite the country an restore our image across the globe. Have courage and make Barrack Obama the next President of the United States.

Ms. Obama is not a classic beauty. If you saw her brother you would know what I mean -- there is a strong resemblance between them. She needs some fashion pointers to soften a "hardness" about her, and she really needs to lose the Condi "flip". She also has a sharp tongue.

Now I understand why the Obama campaign and supporters are so mean if you don't just jump to their way of thinking.

I don't believe that tough equals mean, however. Obama and his groupies aren't tough. They are just mean, pushy and fanatical.

It's too bad for those of us who just want to talk about better plans that they can't get beyond mean Illinois politics.

Isn't this a NATIONAL campaign?

I say, let the Clintons and the Obamas duke it out, they're fussing over crap that doesn't matter to voters, but at least they're showing their true colors and their lack of maturity.

I'm a member of the adult wing of the Democratic party, and I'm also a member of the hard-working middle class. My husband and I are proud to vote for John Edwards!

Fellow Democrats, when you grow a brain and follow the money, the campaign financing, of Clinton and Obama, you'll see where their real loyalty lies. I don't care what they say, those PACs and multi-millionaire individuals (industry execs who support Obama) expect something in return for their funding of Obama and Clinton---both of whom, incidentally, are identical candidates.

And race and gender does not matter. Plans and solutions for the country do, but, realistically, it's all about MONEY. Who's funding who? Pick the best person for the job: JOHN EDWARDS!

"But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda."

I could be wrong here, but I thought the point was NOT to separate people by color or gender.

I am of the mindset that race or gender should be a nonissue. To me, that would be justice and equality.

"Justice is Blind" -- at least in theory. Let's make that a reality.

It is indeed refreshing to see intelligent post come out to blog, last night was a disaster and I decline to blog even though I was up for it. There were KKK and race-baiting on blog after blog, I do think Huffpo should take a strong look at some of these bloggers coming on line, it's as if the KKK had canceled their meeting for the night.

Having said that, let the blogging begin.

As a conservative Democrat proud of the party's record on civil and human rights, I find The New York Times endorsement of John McCain and Hillary Clinton quite interesting.

On one hand, a war hero/budget hawk who is the only Republican candidate to resolutely oppose the practice of torture.

On the other, the only Democratic candidate who, until recently, supported torture (and by that name), is an budgetary earmark queen, and whose campaign has sunk to injecting race into the primaries.

(See the Politico.com story "Hillary backs off support for torture" [www.politico.com/news/stories/0907/6050.html])

That cannot be a winning hand for the Democrats.

This is simple. This is the scenario I wanted to see. These two candidates have similar positions but....

Hillary Clinton and BILL Clinton
back again at the white house via Rove style politiking. Look at the campaign they have run. Deja vu for 4 years, maybe 8..

Barack Obama, the campaign he has run, his thrust for transendence over factionalized politics, the strength to hold back from going after the Clintons with all the readily available baggage they bring.

The distinction is CLEAR for Dems. Which will it be? We called the Republican dolts among other names for so long. Time to see how smart, non-bigoted, and progressive we really are.

Quote from the AP: [Obama's] campaign manager, David Plouffe, was far more pointed in a written statement that accused the Clinton campaign of "an entire week's worth of false, divisive attacks designed to mislead caucus-goers and discredit the caucus itself."Whatever the hard feelings, Clinton told supporters they would fade by the fall general election campaign. "We will all be united in November," she said, as the crowd chanted "HRC, HRC." [end quote] ----------------------------------------------------------------- I have said this time and again. The Clintons and their surrogates believe that they can do anything and that no matter what lies, dirty politics, race-baiting, xenophobia inciting, lying, misreprensenting, amoral campaign they run, that Democrats in general---and Blacks specifically---will have no choice but to support them in November if they are successful in stealing this nomination. I beg to differ. I hope all intelligent Democrats of good conscience will vote for a change in the political party by NOT supporting her if she robs the public of a chance at an honest debate and a substantive choice for president. Don't vote for Billary in the fall under any circumstance; make a stand about your morals and your values as a party. Blacks more than others should always stand up for right because they, since inception, have been the true moral conscience of this nation; FACT!

I can't remember the last time that I was this upset about a dirty and mega-maniacal political brawl. It was instigated and perpetuated by Bill, Hillary and their minions.

Barack Obama is very frustrated this morning...Hillary Clinton

Obama is a kid.
He is giving us the biggest fairy tale. Bill Clinton

Shuck and jive...Andrew Cuomo

drug use, drug dealing...Mark Penn

...whatever he was doing in the neighborhood...you know what I mean
he talked about it in his book...Robert Johnson

Obama said himself that he supports Ronald Reagan's ideas and policy's and now he is denying it...

Obama was against raising the minimum wage...Hillary Clinton

Obama was a slumlord lawyer...HRC

Obama said, "As I go from state to state campaigning -voters are bombarded with emails that claim I am a Muslim and I don't pledge allegiance to the U.S....And the timing of the email delivery is in synch with my arrival in that state...it's very curious..."

Overall, the way Bill Clinton talks about Barack Obama in public, before voters, and to reporters on TV is very upseting and revolting to watch. It feels surreal to see a former president acting this way and all the while being fully enabled by his wife Hillary. "Bill is very passionate. Like all the candidiate spouses."

There is a distinction between passionate campaigning and stepping way over the line of civility and decorum.
I am determined more than ever to help Obama win the NJ primary et al and the presidential election in November 08! Barack Obama and the American spirit and justice will prevail in this ongoing matter. -Kathy

Huffpo is attracting the base of our society, no debate here, its all about the looks. I have never seem so many morons come out at any one time, there is even anything pro or con I could respond to here. I cannot and will not engage in food-fights and am not a member of the KKK, like many of you white-sheeter are.

See ya, will be back when the intelligent come out to play.
