POLK CITY, Fla. — Republican Sen. John McCain is skipping President Bush's State of the Union address on Monday night even though Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton plan to attend.

"We'll be campaigning here," Sen. McCain of Arizona said Sunday in Florida, where he is locked in a tight campaign for the Republican presidential nomination against former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.

Sens. Clinton of New York and Obama of Illinois are battling in the Democratic primary. For Democrats, the significance of Florida's vote is diminished because the national party stripped the state of all its delegates to the nominating convention for holding its primary too early in the year.

While the GOP imposed a similar penalty, it is less harsh: the Republican winner will still get 57 delegates, half of Florida's total.

Yes, concern grows that his senility symptoms will be imposible to hide by election time.

I watched McCain on MTP last Sunday and I have to say, he is really showing his age - he is certainly not the robust image Reagan presented when he ran. I was thinking about the contrast between Obama and McCain and I think it will be tough for McCain to meet the challenge. He doesn't speak well; is slow in his responses and at times he is inaudible. I wouldn't be worried about either Clinton or Obama against McCain - in my view he is a weak candidate for the Republicans, projects weakness (not strength) and will only reinforce old ideas and the past when most Americans are looking towards the future.

When I was 17 I spoke as a 17-year-old, I understood as a 17-year-old. I thought as a 17-year-old; but when I became a man I put away childish things. Unfortunately McCain is stuck in perpetual adolescent-mode.

Not many trolls on this site defending McCain.
HMMM.. wonder why. I think the Whitehouse told the running dogs to support Mitt, not McCain.

America is not ready for a president old enough to be wearing diapers at the White House. Period

way toooo old...and a bit of an embellisher to be sure...mccain said, oh yeah you can walk around bagdad and it's like being at the market in any state of the union...turns out the old codger was lying. He is as desperate as the Clingons to get the power. We the people can give the power or take it away. Haven't we had enough of this shit? This is why out of the millions in our country we end with scum who only want the power and control and they have the dosh to get them there. Sick, sick, sick...he is choppin at the bit to attack Iran. Got war? Vote Old McCain, got a war e i e i oh!

Wow! Finally something I can agree with McCain on. Everybody, including the networks, should skip this address. Hasn't Boooosh told enough lies to the world already? Who REALLY gives a fuck what Bush thinks? He is an imbecile.

"He can't raise his arms above his head"
His arms sure worked in 2004 when he had them wrapped firmly around Dumbya on many many reelection campaign platforms and speeches.

McStain is a joke, and left his dignity, testicles and integrity on the battlefield long ago.

McCain won't be the first U.S. president to wear "Depends;" Ronnie Raygun wore 'em during his last couple of years in office.

In 1984, Walter Mondale's candid acknowledgment that it may be necessary to raise taxes may have cost him the election.

Shouldn't McCain's "penciling in" more wars be equally as consequential?

That cue-card thing is disturbing. Are we going to have elected a president that we find out LATER isn't fit for the role? And what about his stability? Still a few questions on that, as well. Oh, I know he's been fine during the campaign--but campaigns are like first dates, people are on their best behavior.

It's not so much the old soldiers age!

But the warriors dream to die in glorious battle!

Trouble is, he may take us all with him!

Well this will put some distance between Senator McCain and President Bush. They were so close that McCain knows the inside of Bush's mouth.

But with a 31% approval rating what can we expect? Loyalty is a luxury that he can't afford.
