Boston Globe:

A Super Bowl win for the New England Patriots on Sunday would set up a big-league conflict between politics and sports in a city that is obsessed with both: The victory parade would have to be on Super Tuesday, when Massachusetts votes with 21 other states in critical Democratic and Republican presidential primaries.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino said yesterday that there is no choice. The players would not be able to get back from Phoenix early enough for a Monday parade. And a number of Patriots have to travel to Hawaii Wednesday for the Feb. 10 Pro Bowl.

The Patriots, like Bush, illegally spy on their fellow Americans.

this is too funny. The story is about the fact the parade will be on the same day as the election day.One guy starts his his comment talking about cheating..lol..but he meant the Pats ..not election fraud..lol...
this goes to show me that it is very easy to distract Americans from priorities...among other absurdities like the fact the article suggests the city simply cannot change the stupid parade day....
its no wonder elections are so easy to steal...how many idiots will forgo voting if there is a parade that day for the Pats? You know what,if this happens I will simply laugh when Hillary wins in Massachusetts..or worse...Romney.Something tells me only the "can't wait to win the superbowl and lose the election" democrats would forego voting ,not republican foot ball fans. You've been warned pigskin heads.

The cheating was in week 1 and the Pats were punished for it. Even if they had lost the first week… they’d still be in the Super Bowl. The Giants fought them extraordinarily hard, with nothing to gain, in the last week of the regular season and fell short by only a field goal. This is going to be a GREAT Super Bowl! Giants 35 Pats 28.

The Pats ought to tell the refs to just take the bribes offered them by the Giants. That'll resolve any parade conflicts.

Hey, it's bad luck to be talking victory parades until the game is over and won.

I live an hour outside Boston by train. Last time the Patriots had a parade the train was jammed with fans already drunk (10 AM and 40 miles from parade site).

The Presidential Primary is a sober judgement to try to figure out how to stop our military men and women from continuing to get killed or maimed in Iraq.

Having the two events on the same day is a disgrace.

If the "parade" was so important to the players heading for the Pro Bowl they could delay travelling to Hawaii for a day. It's not a real game anyway.

It would also be nice to celebrate the end of Romney's rich boy run for the presidency too.

Quit wining about the cheating scandal. The Patriots did something wrong, there was an investigation, judgement and punishment that was paid without complaint. After that the Patriots continued to win, despite not being able to cheat. The league was watching them, other teams were watching them. None of the tapes they made are any use anymore because everyone knows that signals have been taped.

I'm a Pats fan and I am not going to pretend nothing wrong was done, but they paid their price already, and they don't have any more opportunities to cheat, they're on watch. All this is fine: they should have lost a draft pick, paid a fine, and been criticized, and they were. But they still dominated the season after all this transpired, nothing takes the gloss off what they've accomplished this season.

Their accomplishment is made all the more remarkable by the fact that the rest of the league is ALLOWED to cheat. Accusations surfaced against many other coaches that they too were taping signals or cheating in other ways, and there was no outcry, there was no investigation, there was no inquiry, there were no punishments. One of the people that was caught planting a camera man at the Pats stadium was Eric Mangini, the same coach that turned in Bellichek and the Pats.

So Pats get punished for doing something other teams are allowed to do, and they are not allowed to do, and still the Patriots can't be beaten. This is the same team that features players that refuse individual intros during the Superbowl, choosing to be introduced as a team, that take pay cuts so the team can stay under the salary cap, that has players who fill in on both sides of the ball, and doesn't celebrate every meaningless play as though it were a Superbowl touchdown, the way most teams do.

The Pats are human beings that sometimes do good and sometimes do bad. They are also the greatest team in NFL history, and Ton Brady is the greatest football player EVER.

If Americans would look at the dual citizenship
foreigners who are in major positions in the Bush administration, and look LESS at the Super Bowl, and other such representations of the dole and circus, this country would be MUCH better off.
