Well, this post sure brought out the aetheists in force.

I joined a particular church because while I was pounding nails, helping build the soup kitchen in our town, I came to find out most of the other volunteers on the jobsite went to church there.

They also had regular blood drives, and other activities. In other words, they weren't just SUNDAY MORNING Christians.

Bash Christianity all you want. Sure, we've got the pseudo-christian Catholic pedophiles, and every make-me-rich preacher in the country. But there are a helluva lot of honest, good, decent Christians -- including myself, who will NEVER try and shove Christianity down YOUR throat.

What's funny about the aetheists, is, wouldn't you think they were nuts if they stood on a sidewalk having an argument with someone who believed Santa Claus was real? So if we Christians are just deluded nuts, why can't they resist continually arguing with us?

There' something about Jesus Christ, and God, that gets under the skin of aetheists. They can't resist denying His existense. What could that possibly be?

Read the bible you morons. Tell me what Jesus said, or did, that's inconsistent with a good, loving, kind life. Even if it's just a made-up story, it's one helluva good one that America ought to know.

It's truly pathetic that Muslims know the Koran, and know Allah's teachings, better than America, especially the aetheists, know what's in the Bible.

Aetheists amaze me. Go look at a starry night or take a walk in the forest or scuba dive and tell me there's no God. Or study cosmology, the study of how the universe began. The science itself is enough to convince you there's a higher power behind it all.

I get it. Scientology tells celebs who are wealthy but who feel inadequate: "You are so special. You are worthy of an award, even if your short-sighted peers won't give you one."

(A) That she makes $5.5 million a year for being the voice of a cartoon character.

(B) That another high-profile sap has been suckered into this wacko cult.

(C) That she can deduct it from her taxes because Scientology has managed to got itself recognized as a religion by the IRS.

(D) All of the above, but Tom Cruise is still nuts!

I cannot believe that these actors are so ate up with Scientology--it is one fucked up "religion"--about as whacked as the cults who followed Jim Jones and David Koresh---
I am sorry to hear that someone with such talent and who comes from a fairly stable and sensible midwestern background got involved with something so fucked up as Scientology---she comes from the same town I come from here in Ohio---they must have gotten some bigtime dirt on her during her "auditing sessions" that they were able to use to at best, manipulate her or at worst, extort her to cough up the mega bucks to them--I am done watching The Simpsons, My Name is Earl and any other show that I learn that principle actors are involved with Scientology.

I think it's great that she has the money to give away like that, good for her. It's too bad, however, that she can't find a better charity to give it to. Red Cross? American Cancer Society? Save the Whales?

my attitude is that it is her money- how much do charletans like pat robertson, oral roberts, etc. rake in from poor, misguided rubes trying to buy their way into heaven. that should be of more concern

As much as I hate the cult of Scamology, it doesn't bother me that she voices Bart because as already noted she doesn't write the scripts, just mouths them.

BUT it wouldn't surprise me in the least that they have stayed away from Scamology on The Simpson't because of her. I cannot help but wonder if anyone else could voice Bart should she become so offended she quits, ala, Chef?

BUT the big question is why so much??

And for a cult that has so many members(supposedly bazillions of them but the reality is probably less than a hundred thousand)why do they need donations???

Methinks the cult has something on her and have blackmailed her into giving them so much money.

Granted she makes a quarter mil per episode but that was just in the last two years that, that price started. They were making a great deal less before that.

One has to wonder if she hasn't been blackmailed into giving them everything she has and then making it look like she is just a big donor to "the cause" of world domination which of course ain't never gonna happen.

I've stopped watching a few shows because they have wacky scientologists in them. I've stopped watching Tom Cruise and Will Smith movies, no matter how good they are, because they are wacky scientologists. I don't know if I can give up The Simpsons. That's like cutting off my arm.
Yes, scientology is no more loony than any other made up mysticism. The big difference is that if I start a website exposing the hypocrisy and looniness of, say, Baptists, Catholics, or Buddhists, they wouldn't launch a squadron of lawyers at me to stop me from telling people about their nuttiness.
Every time scientology attacks it's critics so litigiously, it only reinforces what everyone already knows.

Last time I checked the Catholic Church was the largest landowner on the planet. I wonder how much they're worth? People put millions every week into baskets and these "platinum" or "diamond" gifts are newsworthy? What amazes me is that the voice of an animated cartoon has 10 million worth of pocket change lying around. The priorities of this celebrity / media obsessed culture are astounding. However, I must say I have met Ms. Cartwright on a few occasions and she has never tried to seduce me into her "cult", or even mentioned it for that matter and I found her absolutely genuine and engaging.
