Eva Mendes In Rehab

TMZ broke the news first, writing:

TMZ has learned Eva Mendes is in Utah battling a substance abuse problem.

We're told the "Ghost Rider" star is at the famous Cirque Lodge, near Sundance. The Lodge, which treated Lindsay Lohan and other stars, is one of the most respected treatment facilities in the country.

Since then, Mendes' rep has released the following statement:

"Eva has been working hard for the past year and made a positive decision to take some much-needed time off to proactively attend to some personal issues that, while not critical, she felt deserved some outside professional support. Out of respect for Eva's privacy, we do not wish to discuss further details."

Mendes is also know for roles in the Will Smith comedy "Hitch" and last year's "We Own The Night."

Okay so now it is classy and courgeous to admit you have an addiction...riiiiiight!! Everyone who is anyone in Hollywood suddenly has addictions or is getting arrested. The classy way of dealing with an addiction is to quietly check into rehab, not tell anyone and then tell your success story 5 years later...not have your agent give a press release. RIDICULOUS!!!

If she really has a problem and gets the proper help, good for her. On the other hand, why is it that all of these celebs in "rehab" always go to one of "the most respected treatment centers in America"? And then go party their asses off in the middle of it? Do they realize how hard it is for the rest of us who aren't rich and don't have SAG health insurance to actually get into one of these programs? Think about that while you're in recovery.
